This week we ventured to Doagh for a bit of go-karting for our dad’s birthday. I’ve never been before, so I wasn’t too sure what I was letting myself in for, and as we pulled into the car park I was a little bit nervous to tell the truth. However, there was no need, the staff at Need 4 Speed Karting were very friendly and reassuring, there was even a little viewing area with tea and coffee and vending machines (not to mention a much appreciated heater) for those who weren’t racing.

We signed our lives away and then were given our race numbers while the guys got the karts ready for us. After a quick safety video we were ready to go and the boys were up first. We chose the fifteen minute time blitz which costs £14 per person at weekends and £12 on weekdays, but there was plenty of other packages on offer – check out their website here

After the boys whizzed round the track trying to overtake and beat each other, it was finally time for the girls to rule the road…really really slowly (Check out the video). Eventually, the checkered flag was waved and we headed into the pits, the boys took our place and took their second go. This one was much faster as everyone was feeling a bit more confident and this was definitely evident from the changes on our time sheets!

All in all, this was a really fun day out whether you are competitive or not and I’d urge everyone to try it at least once
