The time is almost upon us to don our jester hats and parade through the streets for Belfast’s Festival of Fools, a four day celebration of laughs, hijinks and all things entertaining.

Running from the 1st to the 4th of May this is the only way to spend the Bank Holiday weekend! With more than 120 shows and more than 20 walkabout performances, there’s something for everyone during this four day festival featuring acrobats, clowns jugglers and more from all around the world.

Belfast City Centre and Cathedral Quarter are going to be ringing with the sounds of laughter and applause so if you need a lift, you know where you need to be. Get on a bus or train and head our way with Translink. Enjoy some food and drink at any one of our 17 members of the Festival of Foods. Then rest your weary head on a pillow in the Ramada Encore. Between Festival and our sponsors, we really have thought of everything.

There’s so many acts to choose from, but from what we’ve seen before, our top picks not to miss are:

I have an undying love for Belfast and all that it has to offer, an undying love for sleeping, Tegan and Sara, trashy tv shows, foreign snack-foods and being irresponsible with money. I also quite like origami, reading, jazz, hip-hop, dubstep, anything acoustic and Food Network TV. I've written for The Big List, Culture NI, Chatterbox and The Echo, as well as writing for BBC Across the Line.
