Gone are the days of travelling circuses, sideshows and carnival delights, but for one night only at Belfast’s Cabaret Supper Club the golden age of vaudevillian performance was alive and well as the Pretty Things Peepshow took to the stage.

Wind your way down the carnival midway with The Pretty Things Peepshow, a  vintage vaudeville circus that features an international cast of performers who are just as beautiful as they are brave. See Madeline Glasseater, Australia’s Sideshow Showgirl with whirling hips and pretty red lips this glamour gal will leave you breathless and begging for more. Get swept away with go-go Amy, the girl with the scarlet tresses and million dresses who comes to you direct from Hollywood California, as she tantalizes you with her stunning quick change magic, burlesque, singing and comedy stylings. Then prepare yourself for Scotland’s most dangerous duo The Death Do Us Part Danger Show Charlie and Rachel Atlas. The husband and wife team who risk life and limb for your entertainment in their jaw dropping knife throwing, whip cracking and sword swallowing acts. You won’t want to miss this one of a kind evening of entertainment!

A travelling troupe of breathtaking performers from all over the world, the Pretty Things Peepshow hails originally from Hollywood, California and is currently touring the UK and even further afield, but for this type of show there really isn’t a better setting than the one we’re in, the exquisite Cabaret Supper Club with its rich velvet curtains and plush surroundings to help set the scene.

As the show begins, we are introduced to our fabulous host for the evening, the enchanting Go-Go Amy, ‘the girl with the scarlet tresses and a million dresses’ who describes burlesque to us as “an old timey word for sparkly boobs” – to be honest, this perfectly sets the tone for the entire night; it’s humorous, wacky and more than a little bit sexy.

Over the course of the next two and a half hours the audience is treated to variety show of burlesque dancing, razor blade eating, balloon swallowing and even a mind-reading dog as we meet the rest of the cast; the Death Do Us Part Danger Duo husband and wife team Rachel and Charlie Atlas and the main burlesque performer for the evening Madeline Glasseater. And if that wasn’t enough we see Rachel Atlas – one of only nine living female sword swallowers –  do her thing followed by the most nail-bitingly intense knife throwing I think I’ve ever seen.

In a show that doesn’t take itself too seriously we see about a thousand outfit changes, some shameless product placement, an act called the Board of Death and a genuinely impressive finale referred to as the Transylvanian Spike Box of Doom. What more could you ask for?

It’s hard to describe the Pretty Things Peepshow without giving away the air of mystery that they work so hard to create, but in short, this is definitely a one of a kind show with plenty of talent, tattoos and ta-tas to boot.
