Craft beers are big business and robots are pretty damn cool, so how about craft beers brewed by a robot? It may sound futuristic and a bit made up, but that’s exactly what 33-year old Chris McClelland is doing.

“We are interested in the whole process of brewing beer, and of course the most important part is the final product. The reason this bar is so exciting for us is it’s like one giant testing lab for Brewbot. We have the freedom to serve up our crazy brewing concoctions and see if they work or not. This is will be a destination for brewers to develop recipes with our team before they hit the Brewbot app.”

Using robots, McClelland’s firm Brewbot allows brewers to control a whole host of variables via a smartphone app, thus making brewing beer easier and more accessible than ever. Using this technology, Belfast’s first Brewbot Pub will be opening its doors on the Ormeau Road (at the site of former gaming bar Tilt), serving robot brewed beers alongside 10 rotating tap beers from around the world and other bottled varieties. Hoping to expand into food and other beers in the very near future, this looks to be a very exciting venture indeed.
