This week the geek has news on MIB 23, Power Rangers, Iron Fist, Justice League, Kingsman, Godzilla and a Warcraft trailer too. ‘Mon an’ see what’s what in the world of geek.

MIB 23

mib_23That MIB/21 Jump Street crossover that was supposedly happening? It’s an actual thing and it has an actual name. Sony released the name and logo at CinemaCon and Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are returning. It looks like there’ll be some new faces to replace Will Smith and Tommy-Lee Jones though. The film will be directed by James Bobin who was in charge of the last 2 Muppets films and the latest Alice in wonderland.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Both Channing Tatum and Elton John have been added to the cast of the Kingsman sequel which already contains includes Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Julianne Moore and Halle Berry. Everyone wants to stick their spoon Mathew Vaughn’s bowl of Kingsman gumbo.

Godzilla

The Japanese big budget Godzilla move is due out in July (only in Japan at the minute). Godzilla Resurgence (Shin Gojira) features the traditional “let’s get some guy in a suit” approach to the monster. The film is directed by Hideaki Anno and is set in Tokyo of course. We have a trailer which shows the beast itself aswell as a lot of stern Japanese faces which give away zero information as to what is happening in the film. Well apart from Godzilla attacking Tokyo with arms like hen feet.

Power Rangers

People Magazine has the first picture of the new look Rita Repulsa played by Elizabeth Banks. Rita was the mad one in the TV show that used to scream “I’ll get those power rangers!” and had big pointy hair. Banks notes that:

“it’s definitely a modern and edgy reimagining of the original Rita Repulsa. We wanted to give her a backstory that connects her to the new Rangers”.

The reimagining will be with us March next year.

Justice League: Part One

Willem Dafoe: 'You have to lose yourself to find yourself.'Willem Dafoe has joined the cast of DC’s Avengers movie. The movie itself will be part one of a two part movie and it looks like Dafoe will be playing one of the good guys. No word yet on who but it’s nice to see him cast differently for once.

The Magnificent Seven

The new Mag7 as everyone is calling it (only me) has quite the cast of characters, Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawk and Vincent D’Onofrio among them. We’ve got a nice little synopsis for teh film and a few shots from filming.

Director Antoine Fuqua brings his modern vision to a classic story in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ and Columbia Pictures’ The Magnificent Seven. With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns – Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington), Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier). As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.

Iron Fist

Not a big update but we have a few pictures of Finn Jones during filming on Netflix’s new Marvel Iron Fist series. It looks like Finn who plays Danny Rand/Iron Fist has his pre superhero clothes on here. Either that or Netflix have got really lazy on costumes.

Warcraft

There’s a new trailer of the World of Warcraft trailer that Duncan Jones has gone and made. This one has some dubstep, cause you know kids like dubstep.
