All kinds of stuff here! Defenders, The Tick, The Great Wall, Beauty and the Beast (not that one), Mascots! Come on in and check out all that’s going on. First up we have some pics of the Tick.

The Tick

We have some news on Amazon’s ‘The Tick’ now. Peter Serafinowicz will be playing The Tick and Jackie Earl Jones will play The Terror. Executive producer Ben Edlund emphasized that this is an entirely new look and feel for The Tick:

“This has been a labor of love for Amazon, Sony, and all of us. The only way for this to have value was if we found a wholly new expression of The Tick and Arthur’s story in live-action, and I think we’re on to something! Visually and thematically this new Tick lives in the textures and rhetoric of today’s superhero saturation tsunami — and for it to be something you want to watch for hours, it needed to find its way to a story with heart and stakes, as well as absurdism. Is it a radically new hybrid of humor and super heroic action with characters you will care desperately about? YES! Yes it is.”

The Tick is one of Amazon’s new half-hour pilots and will become available to stream August 19th.

Defenders

We know that Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Daredevil and Jessica Jones will all be teaming up for the defenders but we now have news that 2 supporting characters will be returning for the team. Eka Darville‘s Malcolm Jessica’s  heroin-addicted neighbor and Foggy Nelson, Elden Henson. Elden confirmed at a recent convention stop that he will be involved with The Defenders and that he will play a sizable role in the story arc.

The Handmaiden

North Korea is great at unhinged despots and terrifying nuclear ambitions but if you’re looking K-pop or great directors then South Korea is where it’s at. Director’s like Bong Joon-ho (the Host) and Chan-Wook (old Boy).
The Handmaiden is Chan Wook’s latest offering and we have the trailer right here.

Beauty and the Beast

Studios like to confuse us don’t they? Disney’s Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson isn’t quite due out yet. Until then we have the french version from Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf  and Silent Hill ).

1810. After the wreck of his ships, a financially-ruined merchant (André Dussollier) exiles himself in the countryside with his six children. Among them is Belle (Léa Seydoux), his youngest daughter, a joyful girl full of grace. One day, during an arduous journey, the merchant stumbles across the magical domain of the Beast (Vincent Cassel), who sentences him to death for stealing a rose. Feeling responsible for the terrible fate which has befallen her family, Belle decides to sacrifice herself and take her father’s place. At the Beast’s castle, it is not death that awaits Belle, but a strange life in which fantastical moments mingle with gaiety and melancholy. Every night, at dinner, Belle and the Beast sit down together. They learn about each other, taming one another like two strangers who are total opposites. When she has to repulse his amorous advances, Belle tries to pierce the mysteries of the Beast and his domain. And when night falls, the Beast’s past is revealed to her bit by bit in her dreams. It is a tragic story, which tells her that this solitary and fearsome being was once a majestic prince. Armed with her courage, ignoring every danger, and opening her heart, Belle manages to release the Beast from his curse. And in doing so, she discovers true love.
