We’ve got a jam packed Octogeek for you this week. Spider-Man, Alien, Game of Thrones, Beauty and the Beast, The Mummy. Come check it out if you’re not outside trying to catch Pokemon round by the bins (Windows Phone users like myself).

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Tom Holland has been updating his twitter (@abouttomholland) with the first pics of Spidey from Spider-Man: Homecoming. It’s probably a good idea to follow him if you want to keep up with all the pictures of him in his red and blue feety pajamas. In these pictures here he appears to be stealing a bike.

He also likes to show off his Instagram skills too. Look at you Tom with your 21st century grasp of social media. Well done.Spider-Man Capture

Alien Covenant

Alien Covenant handDanny McBride has been talking to Rolling Stone about his role in Alien: Covenant. It’s come to light that Danny is the ship’s captain. He “runs the ship”. Rolling Stone did the good deed of asking him about the balance of practical to green screen effects and you can almost hear the sigh of relief from fans of the first two films.

“Most of the stuff is practical effects. When you’re running from an alien it’s really a dude in an alien suit coming after you! The sets are incredible and you’re in them: We go through some inclement weather at one point on the spaceship and this whole gigantic set is on a gimbal, shaking up and down. You don’t have to use your imagination.”

You can see the first image of these practical effects being put into action with this image posted by @AlienAnthology on twitter.

Beauty and the Beast

Here’s a new poster. It has a rose in it. It is snowing.

Game of Thrones

Looks like we’ll be waiting a bit longer for the next season of GOT. Show runners Benioff and Weiss have stated that due to filming conditions we’ll have to be patient.

We don’t have an air date yet, we’re starting a bit later because at the end of this season, ‘Winter is here’ – and that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes any more. So we kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim, grey weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot.”

The Mummy

Starring Tom Cruise (Tyler Colt) and Russell Crowe (Dr. Jekyll), this version is going to be quite a bit different than the previous Brendan Fraser movies. The Mummy will also be quite a bit different too. Sofia Boutella will be playing ‘An ancient queen’ who has been ‘awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension.’ Don’t believe me? Check out the first pic from the set. Such malevolence. Many wow.

War Dogs

From director Todd Phillips (“The Hangover” trilogy) comes “War Dogs,” a comedic drama based on true events, starring Oscar nominee Jonah Hill (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Moneyball”) and Miles Teller (“Whiplash,” the “Divergent” trilogy).

“War Dogs” follows two friends in their early 20s (Hill and Teller) living in Miami Beach during the Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts. Starting small, they begin raking in big money and are living the high life. But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a 300 million dollar deal to arm the Afghan Military—a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government.
