It’s been 45 years since the collapse of civilization, and resources such as water, food and oil are scarce. Survivors cling to life at the Citadel, a fortress controlled by the tyrannical Immortan Joe. When Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) leads a band of rebels on a daring escape through the Wasteland, she forges an alliance with haunted loner Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy). Together, they embark on a high-speed race through the desert, pursued relentlessly by the gangs of the apocalypse.

Mad Max: Fury Road – what can you say? WOW? I’ll start with my criticisms and get them out of the way.

There isn’t much of a story to speak of, every line sounds like it’s been ADR’ed and so seems weird, there seems to little to no chemistry between Tom Hardy and anyone else in the film, it’s slightly too long.

All of this gets brushed to the side however because the action is so insane, so well done and so down right entertaining that it is forgiven its flaws.  The use of practical effects is what makes this film, I’m sure there are uses of CGI in there but they’re used correctly, namely because I didn’t realize they were there.  The stunts, the cars, the fire, that guitar guy, it all looks real and looks totally mind blowingly amazing.  You can see where the money has gone ($150 million) as it’s all on screen.  You just need to go and see this, on the big screen, with the big speakers, and remember what blockbusters used to be like.  This is the cure for the insane over use of CGI and too complex story telling in the likes of Avengers: Age Of Ultron.  Seriously stop reading this and just go and check it out.

Thanks George Miller, more of this please!
