This week we got Batman v Superman, Evil Dead, Suicide Squad, Goosebumps, Star Wars Spider-man and more! Not forgetting the Netflix pick of the week! First up, it’s Wayne v Kent.

Batman v Superman

A new trailer dropped for bats v supes at SDCC (San Diego Comic-Con). This one gives us a proper look at Wonder Woman and Batfleck as well as the aftermath from the Zod/Superman battle in Man of Steel. Check it out below.

As if all that Batman Superman stuff wasn’t enough, there’s a new solo Batman movie happening in 2018. Deadline reports that Ben Affleck will be co writing with Geoff Johns and will also be taking the directors chair as was expected. It’ll interesting to see how this one turns out especially when comparisons to the highly successful Nolan Batman films will be made.

Suicide Squad

Sticking with DC, hot off the back of the new trailer being shown at comic con Warner Brothers has released the trailer on the net. We get a proper feel for they type of film this will be as well as a look at Leto’s Joker and more of Margo Robbie’s Harley Quinn.

Goosebumps

This one kind of took me by surprise. I used to read the odd Goosebumps as a kid so when I saw that there was a film in the works I was interested to see what way they would go with it. When I saw that it had Jack Black I was skeptical but the trailer looks like it could be a fun movie. Especially if you have kids, it’s not a gritty Nolan take on the series if that’s what your looking for but then again why would you?

Spider-Man

Spider-Man has cast it’s Aunt May and she’s a lot younger than you think. May will be played by Marisa Tomei who is known primarily for not being an old woman. I’ve always thought that Aunt May could use some sex appeal.

Star Wars

Boba Fett  is to appear in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One along with some of the other bounty hunters from The Empire Strikes Back. This means we should hopefully get to see these guys actually do some bounty hunting, just like Gerard Butler in that film ‘The Bounty Hunter’. All your favorites will be there! Hand on hip ‘i’m not getting into that rubber costume no matter what you’re paying me’ guy, coffee pot robot guy, Boba ’nuff said’ Fett, lizard man with hands that are too far from his elbows guy, mecha brundlefly guy and not forgetting nomadic Napoleon brundlefly guy.

Black Panther

Marvel has announced that Chadwick Boseman has been cast as T’challa AKA The Black Panther. T’challa is from the fictional African country of Wakanda. Here’s a picture of the man with some of his Marvel contemporaries. Can you figure out which of them is Chadwick without me telling you that he’s the black guy? Here’s a hint, he’s the one that doesn’t already have their own Marvel movie franchise. Still not got it?  Ok, you see the lizard guy in the yellow jumpsuit, standing next to Boba Fett? Yeah? That’s what I thought, you’re looking at the wrong picture. Chadwick is the black guy with his finger up Downey Jr’s butt in the picture below.

ReaganFargo

Series 2 of Fargo will take place in 1979 with Bruce Campbell running for president (as Ronald Reagan no less). The cast includes Ted Danson, Patrick Wilson and Kirsten Dunst too. The story will focus on events mentioned briefly in series 1.

Ash vs Evil Dead

While we’re on the subject of Bruce Campbell we should probably mention the new series based off of Sam Raimi’s original Evil Dead films. It picks up 30 years after Evil Dead left off only this time it’s on T.V. It stars Bruce Campbell (naturally) as Ash as well as Lucy Lawless (Xena Warrior Princess) as the mysterious Ruby. Here’s a trailer for the show which should be coming this October in the US, hopefully we get it not long after. It’ll be good to see Campbell back at his Evil Dead best. The trailer looks pretty awesome.

Daredevil

Marvel has announced that as well as The Punisher, we’ll be seeing another fan favourite added to the cast of Daredevil Season 2. Elodie Yung has been cast as Elektra Natchios. She is being described as “a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle.” Here’s a picture so you can size her up. Will she make a good Elektra?

No good? At least she won’t get wet when she’s doing all that ninja stuff. OK here’s a better one where she’s dressed as a bee from G. I. Joe Retaliation.

Still no good? Fine here’s another G. I. Joe pic where she actually looks like Elekrta. I thought she was really working that bumble bee costume though.

The Simpsons

Just a quick update on Harry Shearer (Ned Flanders, Mr Burns) leaving The Simpsons. It turns out he’s been secured for at least another 2 seasons. All that kerfufle over nothing eh? Apparently it was to do with not being able to do outside projects or something but now he’s reversed his decision. Shearer gets $300,000 a show like the rest of the  main cast so there’s no change in pay. Who knows what happens behind the scenes at Fox….

Netflix

This week we have a documentary called ‘Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley’s Island of Dr.Moreau’. It’s about the now legendary flop ‘The Island of Dr. Moreau’ starring Val Kilmer, Marlon Brando and a midget that Brando became attached to during filming. Things were pretty crazy on that set so the doc should be a good one. If you want some comedy you can’t go far wrong with Scary Movie 2. It’s got Anna Farris (she’s married to Chris Pratt don’t ya know) and the always awesome Tim Curry as well as a cameo from James Woods. If you want something else I can recommend ‘Shooter’ starring Mark Wahlberg.

And lastly of you’re stoned or have watched all of TV and the rest of Netflix, there’s something called Black Butler. It’s anime and is being included here purely because the synopsis is insane. ‘In Victorian London, 12-year-old business magnate Ciel Phantomhive thwarts dangers to the queen as he’s watched over by his demon butler, Sebastian’
