Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

Milla Jovovich is back in the only thing she ever did that wasn’t The Fifth Element. Here’s a trailer.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

On the Spider-Man front we’ve got some nice new pics of the web shooters. It’s the little things that count….

Luke Cage

Marvel/Netflix’s Luke Cage has a full trailer. Here it is, bullet holes and all.

Mary Poppins Returns

Mary_Poppins_-_Julie_AndrewsDick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews are back together again in the world of Poppins. Playing what can only be presumed as some sort of cameo roles. The new film stars Emily Blunt as Ms Poppins and Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack. Here’s the synopsis.
In Depression-era London, a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, along with Michael’s three children, are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss. Through her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, she helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives.

Van Helsing

Syfy have a new version of Van Helsing on the go. Their version has the same long hair as Universal’s Hugh Jackman fronted moviebut this time its some chick. The indignity! Let’s light up the internet message boards! Kelly Overton will play Vanessa Helsing (nice) in the new show. Here’s the trailer. The show airs in the US in September. No word yet of a UK air date.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD

Marvel/ABC have released a rather lenghty synopsis for season 4. We saw a teaser image at ComicCon showing the flaming skull of Ghost Rider and now we have confirmation.
ghost-riderIn light of the Sokovia Accords, and with Hydra obliterated, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been legitimatized again and no longer needs to operate in the shadows. Since the world presumes that Coulson is dead, the organization needed a new Director (Jason O’Mara) to be the face of the organization. Coulson finds himself back in the role as an agent and teamed with Mack (Henry Simmons), and together they are tasked with tracking down and confirming the presence of Enhanced people, aka Inhumans.
They have been trying to track down and capture Daisy (Chloe Bennet), aka Quake, who has gone rogue in an attempt to atone for sins from the past.  But with the world believing that Daisy is a dangerous outlaw who has taken down banks and bridges, the new Director has no qualms about taking her down for good.  Agent May (Ming-Na Wen) is tasked with training specialist strike teams, and Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) have taken a big step forward in their relationship. But with Simmons’ new promotion as Special Advisor to the Director in Science and Technology, Fitz, as well as her former team members, finds it hard to confide in or trust her since she’s now the Director’s confidant.
Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna) will roar into the lives of Agent Coulson and the team as a junkyard mechanic who can turn on a dime into the terrifying Ghost Rider. Will Robbie be a friend or foe to S.H.I.E.L.D. – as well as the world, itself?  Meanwhile, Fitz discovers that socially awkward genius and friend Dr. Radcliffe (John Hannah) has started putting the finishing touches on a new, secret invention.

Sherlock

Season 4’s new nemesis is Toby Jones’ Culverton Smith and Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss shed some light on the villain.
Toby-Jones-as-Arnim-Zola-in-Captain-America-The-First-Avenger“He’s completely different [to the villains that have come before]. It’s a completely different character. He’s the darkest villain we’ve had. There was always something charming and engaging about Moriarty. There was something fascinating and actually amoral, rather than immoral, about Charles Augustus Magnussen. This guy is the purest evil. Sherlock is actually appalled by him. He’s the most evil villain we’ve had. I don’t think that when you see it, you will disagree. He’s horrific.”
“It’s an interesting thing to chart. We made our Moriarty very different to Doyle’s. He’s Irish, and he brings all his charm, his twinkle and his humor to it while he’s also terrifying. Magnussen was a very blank, chilling business man. He doesn’t see what he’s doing as evil. Toby is doing something very interesting. She’s an avuncular, funny seeming man with terrible teeth. We’ve given him terrible teeth, which are symbolic of the rot inside him. It’s a great complex, shaded character. You’re not quite sure what the relationship is with him.”

Man of Steel 2

Looks like Batman v Superman left some unfinished business for Superman. It was assumed that Man of Steel wouldn’t see a proper sequel, what with all the other DC properties and Justice League stuff going on at the WB. It looks like Superman may yet get his shot at movie redemption. Collider reports that:

batman-v-superman-02“Warner Bros. has now put Man of Steel 2 in active development, marking the first new entry in the DCEU since the studio first announced that slate of films back in 2014. Further details are unknown, but The Wrap cites sources saying that Man of Steel 2 is a “top priority” for the studio, as is “getting the character right for audiences.”
