Laura Bonner AKA Tangled is a singer songwriter from the Republic of Ireland. Formerly known as Laura B, Tangled has chopped off her golden locks and gone for a whole new image to kick off 2014. Having just released her debut EP Lost and Found on the 25th March the 20 year old has been featured in The Derry News, The Inish Times and on Resonance FM in London and doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. She describes what she does as:

I intricately weave my deeply personal solemn lyrics with ironically upbeat vocals and guitar.

Unattainable begins with some solid yet heavy acoustic guitar, giving way to Laura’s unique voice. The punchy, rapid lyrics are incredibly catchy, so much so that you’ll find yourself humming this one all week. This is my favourite track from the EP, it’s intricate, interesting and has just the right level of confidence to show off what Laura can do –  you can tell she’s enjoying every second.

Up next is Medicate Me  a much more urgent, darker track than the first, but still with that distinct guitar sound helping to tie the tracks together. Laura layers her own voice throughout this track to create an almost ghostly presence which fits the song oh so well.

The next and final track continues with this darker theme, but presents it in a much more relaxed and accepting manner. Demon Within is the perfect example of Laura’s signature style – again this song layers Laura’s own voice so that she’s harmonising with herself. This almost peaceful, gentle sounding song presents solemn lyrics alongside deceivingly upbeat guitar.

With a new name, a new image and a brand new EP, Tangled is definitely one to watch, and I look forward to hearing more from her in the future.

Lost and Found is out now and can be bought on iTunes, Bandcamp and Amazon.
