If you’re fans of the local folk scene, then you won’t want to miss the special showcase by folk acts Runabay and Malojian at Belfast’s Duncairn Centre for Arts & Culture on Saturday 14th October, alongside Amy McAllister.

Hailing from the Glens of Antrim, runabay is a six-piece band which has existed since February 2014. They have been described as alt-folk or indie, but the intricate and adventurous nature of their song writing means they rarely fit into predictable pigeonholes – as ‘Creative Spotlights’ commented in a recent review, ‘they are so much more than a genre category could ever describe.’

Runabay have featured on and been championed by the likes of Steve Lamacq (BBC 6music), Tom Robinson (BBC 6music), Ralph McLean (BBC Radio Ulster) and have even found themselves appearing on official Spotify playlists of late. They have also gained plenty of accolades including being nominated for ‘Irish single of the year’ in 2015.

The band’s live performances have been hailed as ‘joyous’, and with influences including Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and Glen Hansard among others, 2017 promises to be a landmark year for the band.

Marking Runabay’s latest single ‘Too Soon‘, and the release of Malojian’s latest album ‘Let Your Weirdness Carry You‘, this will be your last chance to catch Runabay live in 2017, as they will be entering the studio to work on some exciting new material.

Tickets are £12.50 (it’s BYOB too!) and can be bought online here, or at the door. Here’s a taste of what to expect:
