After Beck’s global success and recognition for his last album, nominated for five awards at last years Grammys, winning three, Album of the Year, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical and Best Rock Album, forgetting Kanye’s ridiculous outburst saying Beyoncé deserved it more (for which he has now publicly apologized), Beck leaves the melancholy of Morning Phase to release a new Single – Dreams.

And what a departure he has made. This is a summer anthem and then some. The song kicks in with a disco funk guitar riff that will get your attention, soon to be accompanied by hip hop style beat (which Beck has always been great at incorporating in his music). ‘Come on out of your dreams, and wake up from your reverie, time is here don’t go to sleep’ upbeat dreamy lyrics ensue. The production is superb, with beautiful acoustic guitar mixed softly in the background and penetrating synths jumping straight from an eighties disco stomper. A slightly discordant break down just adds to the spellbinding beauty of it all before the acoustic guitar guides you back into the dance floor groove. This is pop music at its very best. The sun might not be shining outside, but this track will bathe you in sumptuous light.
