Jack O’Connell has been a bit of a breakout star ever since he appeared in Skins back in the day. Recently he made waves in ‘Starred Up‘  the prison based drama set in England but filmed in Crumlin Gaol, Belfast.  This time he’s back in the Belfast  ’71’, although this one wasn’t film in NI.  Go figure.

’71 sees Jack O’Connell (Starred Up, 300: Rise of an Empire, Skins) star as Gary, a young English squaddie abandoned by his unit in Belfast at the height of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Stranded in hostile territory, Gary must escape through the riot-torn city. The feature debut of director Yann Demange, ’71 is released in the UK on 10 October
