Ireland will be awash with celebration tonight as they made history today by becoming the first country to legalise same-sex marriage. After a busy day at the polls yesterday, the tense wait finally came to an end with the results being announced today at 7pm.

As predicted it was a landslide victory with 62.1% voting YES! The only constituency to vote No was Roscommon-South Leitrim with a 51.4% No vote prevailing. Well done Ireland, now it’s up to the North to follow suit.
