Misha Barton is one of those celebrities that you’ve heard of, and probably seen loads of times, but couldn’t actually pick out of a line-up. Based in Los Angeles, the British-born actress is suing her Northern Irish mum for exploiting her success and withholding earnings. Standard.

According to the OC star, her mum Nuala Barton (originally from Newry) forced her to buy a $7.8m eight-bedroom Beverly Hills mansion (we’ve all been there) and now her and her husband “sit back expecting their daughter’s hard work and dedication to her craft to support their lifestyle”.

Adding to this bizarre story, Barton claims that she entered a verbal contract with her mum when she was eight years old, agreeing to pay her 10% of her earnings as a management fee, despite he mum never having any experience in management. We’ve all been there though, right?
