The Octogeek has 8 arms for gathering geek news. One for each day of the week and one left over for you know, octopus stuff.

Perhaps you’re interested in geek news but don’t want to fully commit to it on a daily basis, perhaps you only visit the internet once a week and don’t have time to scan multiple websites for interesting nuggets of nerdom, perhaps you want a friend that’ll always have your back. This article will only fulfill two of those wishes; I’ll let you figure out which.

The Hateful Eight

The Hateful Eight

The film so good it requires a lawsuit, is finally getting some intentional publicity.

Tarantino’s new film stars Sam Jackson, Kurt Russell and Kurt Russell’s mustache. I have it on good authority that the mustache commanded a separate pay cheque much like Russell’s beard in John Carpenter’s The Thing. There’s a nice cover pic for Entertainment weekly in the US and a host of other set pics over at Collider.

As great as The Hateful Eight looks though. I kinda just want to read that article on the 10 most powerful babies.

Deadpool

DeadpoolWe have some more pictures from the Deadpool movie Fox are finally making. Ryan Reynolds has been tweeting Deadpool pics and it looks like they are doing better than the last time they tried to get Deadpool in a movie. If I remember correctly they put him in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ alongside a cowboy hat wearing Wil.I.Am (am I spelling that correctly? I hope not). Deadpool is a Marvel character who’s like a cross between Spider-man and The Punisher. He’s known to fans as ‘The merc’ with a mouth’, for some reason they decided to not give him a mouth first time around.

Thankfully the new pics look more in keeping with what we expect from a Deadpool movie. What you can’t see in the picture below is that Deadpool does actually have a mouth under there. It’s not just smooth skin like a Ken doll’s boy parts.

Deadpool

Mallrats

Kevin Smith’s next movie is officially the Mallrat’s sequel and he seems to have settled on a title: Mallbrats. At least it’s a better name than Clerks 2… ComingSoon.net reported on some casting news too:

“At this time, confirmed returning talent includes Jason Lee, Jeremy London, Ethan Suplee, Shannen Doherty, Michael Rooker, Renee Humphrey, Joey Lauren Adams, Sven-Ole Thorsen, Scott Mosier, Bryan Johnson, Walt Flanagan, Brian O’Halloran, Claire Forlani and, as himself, Stan “The Man” Lee. Of course, Smith will also reprise his role as Silent Bob opposite Jason Mewes’ Jay.” -Comingsoon.net
