Movember Pub QuizThis week we have been mostly preparing for our Slightly Geeky MOVEMBER PUB QUIZ! Held this Thursday night at the Hudson Bar in Gresham Street (the back of Castle court) this is going to be a cracker of a night. We’ll be there form 7pm taking registrations and what not then we kick off at 8pm. We’re going to have 7(ish)rounds of excellent pub quizzery, but with a slighty geeky edge.

The Skinny

Bad Haven

When we teamed up with the guys at BADHAVEN.COM we couldn’t help but feel their influence (or force as they kept calling it) and that influence has permeated all the way through to next Thursday night, before we knew it we had a squid with a hat on a poster and Slightly Geeky pub quiz. But it’ll not be so geeky as to alienate the normos, so bring all your mates regardless of their level of geekiness. but put it this way, there will be no sports round, lol. It’s gonna be £3 entry and a max of 6 people per team, but you can feel really good about spending money in a pub (instead of the usual cloud of regret that we usually wake up with in the morning) because this is all going to charity. MOVEMBER is a charity supporting Prostate and testicular cancer and if you want to read more about the serious stuff I put a post up about it earlier, find that here.

Sponsored Rounds

One idea we had was to have sponsored rounds, so any website or business can sponser a round for a min donation of £10. All the money goes into the pot for the grand total. So far we’ve got rounds sponsored by:

Banterflix – Great local weekly film podcast. they’ve recently done James bond and Hammer Horror Specials. If you like the sound of a few lads having some great craic discussing movies and all the latest box office info these are your guys. they’ll be sponsoring the Movies round(obviously)

TheSkeletonBlog.com – Mad comics every Monday morning to help you laugh your way through the weeks worst day. The Skeleton Blog will not only be sponsoring our picture round but he will be creating it as well.

BadHaven.com – The bad boys of the local and global geek scene. Mark form Bad Haven will be sharing hosting duties with myself (Chris) so if you’ve ever wanted to put a face to the site (so to speak) come on down Thursday night. They will be sponsoring and creating our geek round.

The First Horror Picture Show – Belfast’s only monthly horror movie club and sister site to PastieBap will be sponsoring a random round (mainly because there’s no horror movie round).

Pastiebap.com – ’nuff said really.

Prizes

We put out the call to find prizes and items for our raffle and first back was the most generous man in hip-hop, Belfast’s dirtcore legend Roysta, who is making a name for his art nowadays at Cyclops Jesus Designs. He has donated a painting that will be up for grabs on the night. The great guys over at Hi-life Diners Club 2-4-1 dining have donated one of their Platinum cards which has a £84.99 value. The Guys at my local SPAR have donated a crate of beer for the winners as well as Coca-Cola headphones for everyone on the team. There will be a selection of fine Horror DVD’s donated by The First Horror Picture show for the taking too. The Hudson bar have promised us a meal for 2 to throw into the mix and having eaten there on Monday I can heartily recommend it! We’ll be adding to this list as we get more info from others. But you guys don’t do it for the prizes anyway you do it for the charity, right?

So there you have it. Know that we are working tirelessly to bring you the best Quiz we can and the one thing that we can guarantee you is that it will be great craic. Oh and the Hudson have recently got their own craft beer and I can also testify that it is delicious. We’ll have more updates, but we’ll see you down there on Thursday yeah?
