This week we have a few trailers for some upcoming movies like Dan Brown’s Inferno and Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers. We also have a bunch of other stuff on Han Solo, Power Rangers and the Infinity War. Come check it out!

Han Solo

han soloProduction will soon be gearing up for the new Han Solo prequel and it looks like they have their man (Han?). Their man is Teen Choice Award nominee (not winner) for Choice Movie Actor: Romance, Alden Ehrenreich. Alden will play the smuggler in a story taking place before the original trilogy because that’s how sequels work. He’s known for Beautiful Creatures (where he picked up that nomination), Blue Jasmine and Hail, Caesar! The film is being directed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord of Jump street/ Lego Movie fame. The movie itself is due May 25th 2018 but you can check the internet message boards for as much negative fan reaction that you care to look at.

Yoga Hosers

Kevin Smith’s next film stars Jonny Depp’s Daughter Lilly-Rose and Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn as “yoga fanatics and convenience store clerks. Colleen Collette (Lily-Rose Depp) and Colleen McKenzie (Harley Quinn Smith), both […]  find their invitation to a Grade 12 party in jeopardy when forced to do battle with a powerful force of evil that rises up from the earth.” Here’s the trailer for it’s UK release.

Power Rangers

The Power Rangers are coming and we finally get a look at what they look like. They look like this. The black one looks like a humourless cyborg that wants to kill the rest. Only the yellow ranger has noticed that he’s even there.

The Craft

Producer Douglas Wick gave an interview to the folks at Hitfix about the upcoming ‘reimagining’ of The Craft.

“I wouldn’t say that we wouldn’t so much call it a remake as ’20 years later. There will be callbacks to the original movie, so you will see there is a connection between what happening in the days of The Craft, and how these young women come across this magic many years later. […]Here are some young women who once again discover the power of magic, and we explore their emotional lives, their wants, their fears, their longings, as they become empowered. So you know, the same way you use a war movie to explore the psyche of men, you get to create a heightened world to explore the psyche of these women. [… ] That seemed like an opportunity that was ripe and a way to make a movie that would be very much about now”

Leigh Janiak and Phil Graziedi are co-writing with Janiak directing. The director of the original film, Andrew Fleming has been consulted on it, too.

The Mummy

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM - JULY 4: Movie star Tom Cruise (R) and "Gladiator" lead Russell Crowe arrive for the premiere of Cruise's latest film "Mission Impossible 2" at The Empire, Leicester Square, London, 04 June 2000. The movie has opened to rave reviews in America taking $41 million USD in its opening weekend. (Photo credit should read HUGO PHILPOTT/AFP/Getty Images)

Russell Crowe to set to star alongside Tom Cruise in the new Mummy reboot that’s being directed by Alex Kurtzman. Speaking to collider he said:

I’m gonna play Dr. Henry Jekyll, Fellow of the Royal Society. It’s very interesting, what they’re gonna do with that stuff.

He also said that it was:

“designed to seriously scare the shit out of you.”

Avengers Infinity War

Its been revealed that the Avengers Infinity War movies will have better names than part one and part two. Directors of Captain America The Winter Soldier/Civil, The Russo Brothers, have been speaking to Collider in a rather lengthy interview about the upcoming films. Josh Brolin will be on set as Thanos rather than just voicing the character and both movies will take about a year to shoot.

avengers-thanosI think everybody’s excited by that concept and I think working on these film, because these actors have been doing it so long, they’re all very close, it’s a little bit like summer camp. I think they’re starting to get withdrawal symptoms when they’re not together now, so I think they’re excited. – Joe Russo

As for adding Easter Eggs and mentions to other minor characters in the MCU, don’t expect the movies to be crammed full of them..

Look, by the time we get to Infinity War there’s so much to do to service the characters that exist, that currently exist or will soon exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that our focus is going to be on those characters and advancing the story of those characters, and I think that alone is sufficient scale for those movies. So I don’t know how much time we’ll spend on Easter egging other characters – Joe Russo

There’s a lot more to the interview over at Collider , so it’s worth a read if you’re into that kind of thing.

Inferno

Remember those Dan Brown books that everyone was reading? They had chapters that were only like 5 pages long and were all about conspiracies in religion and art. You know the ones I mean, Tom Hanks played the professor guy in them and was running about Italy with Wilson the football. Well there’s another one of those called Inferno. Here’s the trailer.

Black Widow

Kevin Feige has been speaking to Deadline and it looks like there may be a Black Widow movie on the cards. It may be later rather than sooner though.

“We’ve announced the next nine movies, ten counting Civil War, through the end of 2019. Where we go beyond that are ongoing discussions that we’ll focus on in the next few years because we have a lot to do before then. I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow.”
