The Octogeek (Geektopus?) has 8 arms for gathering geek news. One for each day of the week and one left over for you know, octopus stuff.

Alright folks here’s Octogeeks pick of this week’s movie news. We’re heavy on trailers this week so if you’re at work, get the headphones out.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation is not the name of a spin off X-Men movie where Gambit tries to repopulate a post apocalyptic world by getting it on with life-force sapping X-Man, Rogue. It should be but it’s not. Instead it’s the name of the latest Mission Impossible movie. This week we have a fancy new trailer featuring Cruise topless, tied up and doing backflippy things.

Big Trouble In Little China
big trouble
Dwayne Johnson is in Big Trouble (see what I did there) as he’ll be front and centre (and left and right, he’s a big guy) in the new take on Big Trouble In Little China. He’s obviously impressed the big wigs by punching his way through earthquakes in San Andreas which made FOX a shit ton of money. The Rock will play Jack Burton and only time will tell if he keeps Kurt Russell’s the trucker mullet. Only time will tell if there is a God.

Aquaman
James Wan, last seen directing the furiously heptagonal Furious 7 has closed the deal with Warner Brothers to direct Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) in DC’s Aquaman movie. Aquaman used to be the character everyone made fun of. See pretty much any episode of Family Guy for reference. aquamanJason Momoa looks pretty bad ass though. Not a long way from Drogo or Conan which can be no bad thing for a character like Aquaman. James Wan should hopefully make a good go of it. Warner Brothers had this to say on the matter:

“The Aquaman film will be a major tentpole picture for us and James’s span of work has proven him able to take on any manner of project, bringing his incredible creative talent and unique voice to the material.”

The Warner sister Dot could not be found for questioning.

Ted 2 – If you liked Ted, you might like to see the latest trailer for Ted 2. That’s all I’m saying on this one.
