The Octogeek (Geektopus?) has 8 arms for gathering geek news. One for each day of the week and one left over for you know, octopus stuff.
First up this week we have a new Poster for Ant-Man which is out 17th July in the UK. For some reason I keep forgetting about this one even though it has Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and yer bald fella from House of Cards, Michael Pena.
Marvel’s next big picture after Ant-man is Captain America: Civil War and after that things get strange. Tilda Swinton is reportedly joining Benedict Cumberbatch in Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange.
Marvel are looking for her to play The Ancient One, who in the comics is male but in the grand scheme of things could happily be either. She could add it to her list of roles usually given to men along with the Angel Gabriel in Constantine. Ok so it’s not much of a list but at least I tried. She also played the sex changing Orlando in Orlando, does that count? The movie itself is pegged for a November 2016 release.
To keep us going until then, there’s some news for everyone’s favourite (only) blind lawyer super hero, Daredevil. Some casting videos have leaked which appear to show Marvel and Netflix may be looking to bring Elektra in for series 2 of their hit show. No word on an actress being confirmed but this hopefully means we get to see the Hand too.
On the DC side there appears to have been quite a bit of filming going on for Warner Brother’s Suicide squad. WB has been doing a lot of filming outside making for lots of candid snaps. The scenes involved some sort of car chase so we got to see the Batmobile and what can only be assumed is the Jokermobile.
Above we have our first proper look at the new Batmobile. Not quite the tank of the Nolan films bout it’s still got a militaristic feel about it. Below are pictures of Batman atop the Jokermobile with Margot Robbie inside as Harley Quinn.
Keeping it DC, ‘Captain Kirk’ Chris Pine is reportedly in negotiations to join Patty Jenkins’ movie of Wonder Woman, which is set to star Gal Gadot in the title role. Pine is being sought to play Steve Trevor, her romantic interest and co-star in the movie which is due June 2017.
