As a sometime member of the Banterflix TV and Podcast crew I am duty bound to pass on details of their second live screening and podcast recording of Woody Allen’s Annie Hall. This one is conjuction with BFI’s Love Season, so prepare to get romantic!

BanterFlix will be hosting our second live event at the Belfast Film Festival’s Beanbag Cinema on Saturday 21st November. We’ll be recording a special edition of our podcast in front of a live audience on the subject of love; this discussion will be followed by a screening of Woody Allen’s romantic comedy, Annie Hall.
Rodger Ebert claimed Annie Hall was ‘just about everybody’s favourite Woody Allen movie’, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw hailed it as the ‘greatest comedy of all time’ ; but Allen’s 1977 feature, winner of four academy awards, is a wonderfully funny, but deeply poignant feature that explores love and sexuality, with all the trademark charm and wit you’d expect from the director. The film’s plot sees Alvy Singer (Allen), a forty year old, neurotic, New York stand-up comedian, reflecting on the demise of his relationship to Annie Hall (Diane Keaton), a year prior.
Before the screening the BanterFlix team will be revealing some of their all-time favourite romantic comedies and asking the audience to reveal theirs. We’ll also be discussing why a genre which was once a staple of the multiplex, with gems like When Harry met Sally, The Wedding Singer and Notting Hill; have seemingly become such a rarity at the cinema nowadays.
Doors open at 6.30pm with the Discussion starting at 7pm sharp. Ticket’s cost £5 each and can be purchased online . Since this is a limited capacity venue, we recommend booking your ticket early to ensure admission and a bean-bag.
