What offerings have we for you this week on Netflix? This time there were a few entries that caught my cephalopod eyes. If you’re looking for something to watch on a cold dark night how about Spike Lee’s remake of Park Chan-wook’s South Korean cult classic, Old Boy. It might be worth a look if you haven’t seen the original and stars Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen.

kung powIf that’s not you’re style how about Kung Pow: Enter The Fist? I will recommend this with the caveat that I was probably 12 years old the last time I saw this and it seemed like the funniest film I’d ever seen. I’m not sure if it holds up but I’ll be giving it a re watch this week for old time’s sake. From what I remember there’s a Matrix style Kung Fu cow fight that looked dodgy even then. It does however contain a character that is essentially a tongue so I guess it can’t be all bad.

Thirdly we have Hot Tub Time Machine 2. It’s not quite as good as the original and is missing John Cusack but it’s definitely worth a watch if you liked the first one.hot-tub-time-machine-2-rob-corddry-clark-duke

And finally, my actual pick of the week. A Very Murray Christmas. Wikipedia describes it thusly.

A very Murray christmas‘A Very Murray Christmas is an upcoming American Christmas musical comedy film written by Bill Murray, Mitch Glazer and Sofia Coppola and directed by Coppola. The film features an ensemble cast including Bill Murray, George Clooney, Paul Shaffer, Amy Poehler, Julie White, Dimitri Dimitrov, Michael Cera, Chris Rock, David Johansen, Maya Rudolph, Jason Schwartzman, Jenny Lewis, Rashida Jones and Miley Cyrus’

Beyond that cast list of called in favors, I have no idea what to expect other than the fact that it’ll be lovely to have some Bill Murray at Christmas besides the yearly viewing of Scrooged.
