It’s not every week that a new bar opens in Belfast, not to mention a super cool, super relaxed arcade-style bar. So in true PastieBap tradition, we went out for a bit of a look and a bit of a drink.
Tilt, a new bar which opened its door this week on the Ormeau Road (451 Ormeau Road to be precise) boasts two floors with an upstairs inspired by a Brooklyn games arcade. Up the very impressive staircase you’ll find: three American pool tables, a pinball machine, two air hockey tables and several games machines where you can play Pac-Man, Tetris, Space Invaders, Frogger, Donkey Kong and so much more. The decor can only be described as ‘cool’ and very American, without being kitsch or too stereotyped. The exposed brick walls are caked in graffiti which gives the whole place a very street, relaxed atmosphere, and the only extra decoration is in the form of massive mirrored frames with paint-can sprayed quotes. All in all very nice to look at indeed.
At the bar you can get a range of jam jar cocktails with videogame inspired names such as ‘Bowser’s Brew’, ‘Streetfighter’ and ‘Zelda.’ They also serve American style food in the form of burgers and hotdogs. Every Tuesday is games night with free pool, arcades, air hockey and pinball from 8.30pm, with a few drinks promos thrown in (like £3 cocktails!)
All in all, we think Tilt is going to be one of our favourite new bars in Belfast, with its easy-going atmosphere, fun cocktails and arcade games to pass the time.
