10 Things to do in Northern Ireland from January 30 – February 5

As always, the good people at Tourism NI have put together a list of 10 exciting things to do in Northern Ireland next week (January 30 – February 5):

• IMBOLC International Music Festival, various locations, Derry~Londonderry, until Jan 5. A celebration of music reflecting the diversity of the contemporary Irish music scene. With concerts, workshops, film screenings, community and participatory events and events for children, there is sure to be something for everyone at IMBOLC.
  
• Bowie Experience, SSE Arena, Belfast, February 4. Bowie Experience, the most successful David Bowie tribute show in the world. The cast pay great attention to the sound and feel of the music, all performed with the same accuracy, passion, energy and verve of the thin duke himself. Complete with authentic costumes and iconic stage set projections join in the party and sing along to iconic songs such as Life on Mars, Starman and many more.
  
• Dana Masters, Newcastle Community Cinema, Co. Down, February 2. Originally, from the Deep South in the United States, Dana Masters is an extraordinary singer who grew up with the sounds of soul, rhythm and blues and gospel music all around her. Following her amazing performance in Bangor’s beautiful Walled Garden last year, Dana is out on tour as part of the Open House Festival road trip.
  
• Alice in Wonderland, Market Place Theatre, Co. Armagh, February 4. Alice dreams of a land of nonsense and mystery and one day her wish is fulfilled. Join Alice this February as she travels through the secret enchanted gardens of Wonderland, dine with the Mad Hatter and discover that it is alright to be a little mad sometimes! Show starts at 6:30pm. Tickets from £5.
  
• Rayna Gellert, Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre, Derry~Londonderry, February 4. Performing live at the Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre Rayna Gellert is an artist who promises to deliver a great night of old and new Americana roots music. The event will showcase the best of Rayna Gellert who is an American Fiddler and singer/songwriter.
  
• Getting Started with Veg, Antrim Castle Gardens, Co. Antrim, February 4. Nothing beats the feeling of satisfaction of making a meal with veggies straight from the garden.  If you would like to grow your own but don’t know where to start join Vanessa Drew for an informative workshop. The workshop will cover all aspects including planning, where to site your veg patch, what to grow, what’s not worth growing, the benefits of a greenhouse and how to keep your veg beds producing though the winter months.
  
• Amadeus, Movie House Cinemas, Belfast, February 2. Lucian Msamati plays Salieri in Peter Shaffer’s iconic play, broadcasted live from the National Theatre with live orchestral accompaniment by Southbank Sinfonia. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a rowdy young prodigy, arrives in Vienna, the music capital of the world – and he’s determined to make a splash. Awestruck by his genius, court composer Antonio Salieri has the power to promote his talent or destroy his name.
  
• Snowdrop Walks, Argory, Co. Armagh, February 4. See the wonderful displays of snowdrops planted over the years by the estate’s staff and volunteers. Choose to go self-guided or join one of the guided walks, then relax in the Coffee Shop for a warm drink or a tasty bite. Snowdrop plants also available to buy on the day. Booking required for guided walks.
  
• Neil Delamare – Handstand Tour, The Ardhowen, Co. Fermanagh, February 4. Following sold out shows last year, the master of mirth is back with his own unique brand of irreverent humour. 2016 was another busy year for the perennially popular star of BBC’s ‘The Blame Game’. Following the show’s success, Neil is back to where it all started, talking to strangers in rooms for money.
  
• Barry Kirwan, Silverbirch Hotel, Co. Tyrone, February 3. Nominated for ‘Newcomer of the Year’ at the 2016 RTE Irish Country Music Awards, Barry Kirwan is set to take the Irish country scene by storm! Join the party at the Silverbirch Hotel for a ‘Jive & Dine’ experience.  Tickets costs £35 and include a four-course dinner and show ticket.
