This week’s story is one that could almost have proven fatal, as a man in his 30s was almost crushed by a bin lorry in Dublin this week. The man is believed to have been homeless and climbed inside the 1,100 litre bin on Hardwick Street to keep warm from the winter weather, but was abruptly woken up by being tipped into the back of a bin lory which compacts the rubbish. The bin men were alerted after they heard noises from the back of the truck and managed to shut down the machine before it could injure the man.

This is one of a number of similar incidents occuring throughout Dublin recently, and luckily this man walked away unharmed, unlike 43 year old Polish national Henryk Piotrowski who was crushed to death in an industrial-sized bin in south Dublin last August.
