August Féile

Ireland’s biggest community festival explodes into colourful life this weekend, kicking off a programme of over 400 events from live music and comedy to sport, exhibitions, drama, discussions and debates in over 30 venues, in a mix of iconic venues across the City.

Belfast Pride 2015
24 July – 2 August
Various Locations
The 25th Belfast Pride Festival is Ireland’s largest lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and trans festival and lights up the city with over 80 events that showcase the creativity, arts, history, culture, opinions and everyday lives of the LGBT community in Belfast. The annual Pride parade takes place this year on Saturday 1 August and sets off from Custom House Square at 12pm through the city centre.

Discover Wonderland
1 – 31 August
Victoria Square
Victoria Square will magically transform into a wonderland during August to mark the 150th anniversary of ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’. Start in the rabbit hole in the iconic dome with book swapping and storytelling, travel past the magic mirrors onto the tea time zone with cake decorating and hat design and through the rose garden to colour-in and play croquet. There will also be a 6ft maze and giant board games such as Connect Four, Chess and Lego.

Gulliver’s Travels
30 July – 1 August
The Lyric Theatre
Voyage through unknown lands with mythical creatures as this magical tale returns to its place of inspiration. Follow Lemuel Gulliver on his whirlwind expedition from being washed ashore after a devastating shipwreck to his journey through wild lands encountering new civilisations, experiencing all things weird and wonderful.

Sunflowerfest
31 July – 2 August
Tubby’s Farm, Legacurry, Hillsborough
Sunflowerfest is an excitingly different and magical weekend festival of great music, arts and entertainment. It nurtures the mind, body and soul through a wide range of superb live music, fantastic fun for the family, performances in the Enchanted Glade, storytelling, poetry, interactive art, dance and music workshops.

Family Fun at Titanic Belfast
1 – 3 August
Titanic Belfast
Visit Titanic Belfast for some free family fun this weekend! Bring the kids along to complete the Explorer Trail throughout the Titanic Experience, take part in Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting or meet the Titanic Mascots! On top of this there will be Clayrazy model-making, arts and crafts and sweety cart tastings!

August Craft Month

August Craft Month celebrates contemporary craft in Northern Ireland with a programme of over 150 events based in stunning locations across Northern Ireland including exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, talks seminars, craft fairs and much more.

Belem Public Tour
1 – 2 August
Queen’s Quay, Belfast | Tickets available from the Visit Belfast Welcome Centre
Belem (1896), the last three-masted French ship, the oldest three-masted sailing ship in Europe and the second largest sailing ship remaining in France, will be docked at Queen’s Quay this weekend to allow the public to tour the ship. The tour is self-guided although crew will be on hand to provide information.

Robots
26 June – 13 September
Titanic Belfast
Titanic Belfast’s exciting summer exhibition, Robots, will bring you face to face with some of the biggest robot stars of the big screen and TV. With over 50 pieces on display from robots to cyborgs to androids including R2D2, a Battle Droid and Sonny from the movie I, Robot, robot fans will be spoilt for choice.

Full Moon Twilight Boat Trip on Strangford Lough
31 July
Clearsky Adventure Centre, Castle Ward
Enjoy the tranquillity of Strangford Lough at twilight with a full moon rising over the water to set off the beautiful scenery of the area. Visit the SeaGen, Angus Rocks Lighthouse, Seal colonies at Cloughey Rocks Nature Reserve and much more. Suitable age 3 years plus.
