12 Brilliant Things To Do This Weekend In Northern Ireland (March 4 – 6)

Tourism NI have put together a list of great things to do this weekend and we’ve added a few of our own to make up a Top 12 list of things to keep you busy this weekend, including Mothers day on Sunday!

1. Absolut Vodka NI’s Secret Party, Not much info on this one but click here to enter and win tickets to this FREE event on Fri 4th March, but be quick the comp closes at 12!
2. Discover Fermanagh Open Weekend, various locations, Co. Fermanagh, March 4-6. Supported by Waterways Ireland, Discover Fermanagh Open Weekend is the perfect opportunity for you to visit and experience some of Fermanagh’s top visitor attractions, free of charge. Visit a selection of stately homes, museums, ancient sites, cruise Lough Erne or explore the subterranean depths of the Marble Arch Caves, all for free!
3. Belfast Children’s Festival 2016, various locations, Belfast, March 4-9. Belfast Children’s Festival is an annual international festival for children aged 0-14 and their accompanying adult organised by leading arts company Young At Art. Events take place around Belfast both in and out of school time for schools, groups and families to attend. Events include shows, art workshops, literary activities and much more.
4. Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea, Larchfield Estate, Lisburn, Co. Antrim, March 6. Treat the special lady in your life to Afternoon Tea at Larchfield Estate. Relax in the atmospheric Larchfield Barn as you enjoy a wonderful spread from the fantastic French Village, with a beautiful tiered selection of savoury and sweet treats, accompanied by a glass of something sparkling and a selection of Suki teas or Bailies coffees. Afternoon tea will be complimented by the sound of Sepon String Quartet, and when you’re finished dining, guests are welcome to take a stroll in Larchfield’s stunning Walled Gardens.
5. The Ulster Youth Jazz Orchestra, Riverside Theatre, Ulster University, Coleraine, Co. Londonderry, March 4. The Ulster Youth Jazz Orchestra was formed in 1993 after a series of summer courses held in the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast. They have performed all over Northern Ireland as well as Austria, the Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium. The Riverside Theatre welcomes this talented ensemble back under their distinguished conductor, Ken Jordan. Show begins at 8pm.
   
   
6. Meet the Makers – A Craft Demonstrations Day, The Space Gallery, Ards Crafts, Newtownards, Co. Down, March 5. As part of Creativity Month, Ards Crafts host a ‘making it’ day in the Space Gallery. Enjoy free craft demonstrations by local wood turners, textile artists and potters, and browse the craft centre for that unique perfect gift. 12-3pm.
7. City of Derry Drama Festival, Waterside Theatre, Derry, Co. Londonderry, March 4-12. The City of Derry Drama Festival is an amateur drama festival staged annually each spring in the heart of Derry~Londonderry. The festival is one week long showcasing some of the best amateur productions attracting top, award-winning groups from all over Ireland.
8. Blackie O’Connell, Cyril O’Donoghue and Davy Spillane, Alley Theatre, Strabane, Co. Tyrone, March 4. An evening of Irish Traditional music and song on Uilleann Pipes, Low Whistle and Bouzouki, with particular focus on the legacy that has been handed down by the great Traveller musicians of the past 100 years. Show begins at 8pm.
9. Sing Rock Live, Belvoir Players Studio Theatre, Belvoir, Belfast, March 4-5. The Big Belfast Choir, Bel Canto Chamber Choir and The Belfast Violin Kids bring you a fantastic evening of music and singing from some of the most talented men, women, boys and girls in Belfast. Show begins at 7.30pm.
10. Cinema, Why not check out what’s new this weekend and visit one of NI’s own Movie House’s or The QFT for one of the latest block busters or Indie films.
11. Love Or Money, C21, Various locations.  Recently finished it much praised stint at The Lyric and now on tour all over the place this is one to catch while you can!
12. Visit somewhere new in NI.  We all get into a bit of a rut of visiting the same old places time and time again, but NI has so much going on that we really should go out and explore more.  Here’s our handy guide to a lot of places in NI that you probably haven’t been before, so now’s the time to check them out and see what all the fuss is about!
