As well as producing some fine photography, our Pastie writer and photographer Neil Carey also specializes in digital art, creating some very surreal images. Today we are happy to showcase a recent project of Neil’s, Fractal Art. But Chris what is Fractal Art? I wasn’t sure either so I asked Neil to clarify:
“A fractal is a never-ending pattern. Fractals are infinitely complex patterns that are self-similar across different scales. They are created by repeating a simple process over and over in an ongoing feedback loop. Driven by recursion, fractals are images of dynamic systems – the pictures of Chaos. These particular images are created using mandelbulb 3d software, rendering fractals in three dimensions, the results are often very other worldly and some of them would not look out of place in games like halo, or a scene from star wars.”
So basically it looks like your brain has exploded from watching too much of The Matrix in a geometry class. It looks awesome and terrifying at the same time and it hurts my brain to think how it made, so probably best to just sit back and observe!
If you’d like to see more of Neil’s Fractals ( or more of his digital art and photography) pop over to www.neilcareyphotography.com for some inspiring work.
