From Finland to Belfast, Tracy Dempsey is back on her home turf with another eclectic line-up of artists in the 9th instalment of Soul Ambition Sofa Sessions this Sunday 23rd August. If you’re new to Sofa Sessions, here’s a brief history from the woman herself:

In January 2010, I created the Sofa Sessions – an eclectic, international cabaret of music, art, film, stand-up and more, then hosted in my living room. I wanted to bring together artists from different disciplines and backgrounds to connect with other artists and the people who’d love their work. I also wanted to push myself to perform more, and develop as a musician. In 2012, I was invited to move the Sofa Sessions to the Ulster Hall in Belfast for their 150th Festival. Since then, I returned with more line-ups of amazing local and visiting artists for Culture Night Belfast, Belfast Music Week and International Women’s Day.

Located in the Duncairn Centre, Soul Ambition Sofa Sessions #9: Wellbeing Special will be a donation based event, with all proceeds going to NIAMH Wellbeing. There’s everything from music (Rory Nellis, The Dog Ruff String Band, BEATNDRUM Samba Band and Jenna Smith) to a Finnish/Northern Irish short film and poetry at this unique event.

Hi, I'm Laura. I'm 30 years old and have a degree in Journalism with Photo-Imaging at the University of Ulster. I have an undying love for Belfast and all that it has to offer, an undying love for sleeping, Tegan and Sara, trashy tv shows, foreign snack-foods and being irresponsible with money. I also quite like origami, reading, jazz, hip-hop, dubstep, anything acoustic and Food Network TV. I've written for The Big List, Culture NI, Chatterbox and The Echo, as well as writing for BBC Across the Line.
