‘We Like It Here’ is an exhilarant new play that immerses you in the world of three sisters (played by Adele Gribbon, Maeve Smyth & Mary O’Loan) in the rural town of Ballyarby. Except it all exists within their front room.
With their father now missing, the sisters have only themselves and the village guard Thomas (Cailum Carragher) to keep the world of Ballyarby alive, even if some of them are beginning to have their doubts.
Jonathan M. Daley’s writing demonstrates what it is to be young and isolated in rural Ireland today, playing with our need to pretend as a method of survival. ‘We Like It Here‘ explores what happens when we fall too far into our imaginations.
Runs from 28-30 June At The Lyric. Tickets here.
About Headrush
Headrush, Ireland’s upcoming production, ‘We Like It Here’, is the second production from the company. The aim of this project was to bring together a group of rising Northern Irish creatives to produce a professional production for the Lyric Theatre’s Naughton Studio. It features 4 of Northern Ireland’s strongest young performers, Adele Gribbon, Maeve Smyth, Mary O’Loan & Cailum Carragher, and is directed by Newry native Emily Foran. ‘We Like It Here’ is set in rural Ireland, and explores what it means to be family, our sense of home, and the power of imagination.
