The Giro d’Italia was so last year! So to help celebrate the huge success Northern Ireland will be holding a special cycling legacy for the next three years. Run by the Giro’s organisers RCS, the first ever Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia Northern Ireland will be held this month on the 21st June.

Gran Fondo Giro D'Italia

The event, which is aimed at amateur cyclists gives you the chance to experience the thrill of the Giro from fully closed roads, to cycling alongside past winners.

With a whole host of cycling related fun and events across NI, there are also two race routes which start and finish at Titanic Belfast. The first route is the Mourne Route:

The 173km loop will pass over mountains and hills steeped in Irish history with the opportunity to view the beauty of the country from the highest mountain peaks to the Loughs and sea.

While the second Strangford Route is a bit shorter:

The 58km route will prove challenging and enjoyable for all levels of cycling enthusiasts. If you are new to cycling events or want to set yourself a personal challenge to help boost your fitness and experience that “Giro feeling,” then this route is for you.
