I’ve always been a fan of Malmaison’s quirky, dark and slightly gothic sense of style, and for a limited time only they’ve launched their new Summer Classics Menu to give you a treat this Summer.
This new menu is sure to cool you down in this heat, and with a special offer of 2 courses and a cocktail for £19 we couldn’t really resist.

We didn’t actually sample any of the starters on this menu as they had a french onion soup as a daily special, which was thick and rich and delicious.
For the main course, out of the choices ofpoached salmon, tuna salad, chicken breast, the Mal burger or steak frites, the obvious choice for deliciousness and value for money was the steak frites.
Served with a choice of sauce (we chose pepper) and skin on fries, the steak frites was exactly what it should be – a hearty meal that isn’t too heavy on the stomach (so there’s still room for dessert, you see?). The only criticism would be that the pepper sauce was a little too peppery, but each to their own.
With the special offer we ordered a Mojito and a Cosmopolitan from the cocktail selection. The Cosmo was sweet and flavourful without being too alcoholy, while the Mojito was minty and refreshing – the perfect choice of drink for a hot summer’s day. The cocktails were actually very impressive and not overpowering and hard to drink like you usually get.
We then added dessert for £5 and got the warm chocolate brownie and the iced summer berries. I’d definitely recommend the brownie (and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t really like brownies) – the chocolate sauce was beyond delicious. The iced berries came with a hot white chocolate sauce which was the perfect accompaniment to the frozen berries, plus it’s a dessert which you can’t really feel all that guilty for!
All in all, the meal was really really good, the cocktails were expertly mixed and the staff were extremely attentive, polite and helpful. The dining room in the Brasserie has a nautical theme which is very relaxing, and very pretty to look at. If you haven’t been, we urge you take a look!
