I was thrilled to be invited to try the only Pizza Hut in NI on Ormeau Road in Belfast. Having been about 5 years since my last Pizza Hut I immediately conjured up memories of the many delicious deep pan pizzas I have had over the years. But would it still be as good?
On entering I really liked the classic pizza hut decor but with a modern twist. The walls were exposed brick, reds and greys, and there were funky light fixtures hanging from the ceiling. They also boasted lots of fun graphics and pizza based pearls of wisdom.
The staff were friendly and quick to answer any questions about the menu. You order at the counter but get served at your table.
We ordered two pepperoni pizzas, one deep pan and one thinner Italian base. The deep pan pizza was my favorite. The crust was thick and crispy, while the dough was fluffy and really moreish. The cheese was gooey and stringy with little blisters of crispy pepperoni underpinned by a slightly tangy tomato sauce.
If you are looking for a lighter option, the traditional Italian base pizza is a good choice. The crust is thinner but the flavours are the same.
Our kids also enjoyed their food. They ordered the chicken dippers, 2 kinds – southern fried and regular, which came with a side of BBQ dip. The chicken was crispy and juicy, and the dip was sweet and tangy. The southern ones where the winners for them out of the 2. They also had the chips, which were well cooked.
Overall, we had a great experience at Pizza Hut NI. The food was delicious, and the restaurant made for a good relaxed dining experience, which is definatley appreciated when you have to noisy kids in tow!
