Looking for something to watch tonight on the old trusty Netflix box? Well look no further because we have a doozy of a recommendation for you this week!
‘Creep’ is an interesting movie – Produced by Blumhouse (the go to place for modern horror) and starring mumblecore and ‘The League’ favourite Mark Duplass, it also has the odd distinction of being released 14th July, just under a month after it appeared on iTunes. The film itself is almost entirely made by Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice too, having written, directed, produced and starred in it.
Aaron answers an online ad and drives to a stranger’s house to film him for the day. The man wants to make a movie for his unborn child, but his requests become more bizarre as the day goes along.
I truthfully had no idea what to expect, what tone this film had or how it was going to play out and as the film unfolded I found myself even more bewildered, right up until the end. The less you know the better basically. Being done in the Blumhouse favourite style of ‘found footage style’ here it actually makes sense and doesn’t interfere with the action. Mark Duplass is amazing and being that he’s the central character he pretty much carries the film, so it’s as well that he’s as good as he is. The story is intriguing and plays with the notion that we’re never sure how honest someone is being, who is the creep and who is the normal person? It teases a lot too making us wonder just what is the line between eccentric and dangerous?
I really enjoyed Creep and at 1hr 17mins it’s not going to take up too much of your time, it’s a solid film that plays out at a great pace and with excellent acting a ‘what-will-happen-next’ script it’s definitely worth a watch. You can watch it here.
