This week sees a Netflix add a cartoon villain turned real life along with a whole host of computer animated films for the kids. We also have the return of Kimmy Schmidt and an Oscar nominated Sports drama. Read on to see the honourable mentions and my pick of the week.

Money Ball – An adaptation of the book of the same name, Money Ball stars an interesting array of actors. Brad Pitt, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Chris Pratt and Jonah Hill in a particularly noteworthy performance. One of those films that you’ve heard people say is good but never got round to watching.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – Season 2 – More of the popular Netflix Original Comedy.  The show follows 29-year-old Kimmy Schmidt adjusts to life in New York City after being rescued from spending 15 years with a doomsday cult in Indiana.

Kung Fu Panda 1 & 2 – If you need to keep the kids entertained then you’ll be pleased to know that both Kung Fu Panda movies have been added to Netflix. It might mean that you have to take them to see number 3 in the cinema though. Popcorn and spilt Coke all round then.

Madagascar 1, 2 & 3 –  More computer animated fun for the little ones. All 3 films and you wont even have to take the kids to see the new one. Grand Job

Pick of the week – Maleficent – This weeks pick is one of those Disney re-imagining things. With The live action Jungle Book coming very soon I thought it might be good to see what they did with their new take on Sleeping Beauty. It’s a film that always intruiged me and as always, it’s addition to the Netflix roster gives me a chance to give it a go without paying the price of the movie ticket.

As a beautiful young woman of pure heart, Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) has an idyllic life in a forest kingdom. When an invading army threatens the land, Maleficent rises up to become its fiercest protector. However, a terrible betrayal hardens her heart and twists her into a creature bent on revenge. She engages in an epic battle with the invading king’s successor, then curses his newborn daughter, Aurora — realizing only later that the child holds the key to peace in the kingdom.
