This week we have some Alfred Hitchcock, a film about some very small children, a historical drama set in Ireland and a mad German spoof documentary. What’s my pick of the week? Read on and find out. First up are my honorable mentions.

Rear Window – The Hitchcock classic about a broken leg, a telescope and a murder. If you’re up for a double feature Netflix has also added Vertigo too.

Honey I Shrunk the Kids – You know where you are with this one don’t you. It’s like the prequel to Ant-Man or something. It’s a great film with some awesome and hilarious special effects like giant ants, a wayward lawnmower and a tiny couch. Fun Fact: The script was written with Chevy Chase in mind for the dad, when Chevy was too busy John Candy was approached. When John passed on it he suggested his ol’ pal Rick Moranis.

Rebellion – A mini series drama set during the events of the Easter Rising in 1916. Rebellion tells the story through the eyes of a group of fictional characters who ultimately have to pick a side. This probably should have been added a few weeks ago for the 100th anniversary to be honest but there you have it.

Pick of the week – Look Who’s Back – This is my pick just because it’s so odd. What would happen if Hitler came back today as a television personality? Watch this and I guess you’ll get an idea. I’ll be taking a look at this before the week is out as it looks a bit mad. The Germans usually seem unwilling to tackle their fascist past (for obvious reasons) so its interesting to see some dude dressed as Adolf wandering around talking to folk. Does German humor translate? That guy Henning from Cats does Countdown and every other panel show seems to think so and he mentions the War at least twice every time he’s on TV. Poster, synopsis and trailer below. Danke.

look who's back

Starring Oliver Masucci as Adolf Hitler, Look Who’s Back asks what would happen if Hitler appeared in 2015. This satirical film follows the reawakened Hitler as he tries to start a career in television and his encounters with people, and animals, across the new Germany in the 21st century.
