Last week was a struggle to be honest but Netflix is making up for it with this weeks bonanza! We have comedy, biblical stuff, singing cats and Mike Myers. What’s our pick of the week? Read on…
Ride Along – Ice Cube and Kevin Hart star in this comedy about cops and cops doing cop like stuff. OK so I havent seen it but I heard that it’s good so there’s a good chance it’ll be worth a few yuks on a wine soaked Saturday Night. They made a sequel, whats the chances that they’d make a sequel of a bad film?
For two years, security guard Ben (Kevin Hart) has tried to convince James (Ice Cube), a veteran cop, that he is worthy of James’ sister, Angela. When Ben is finally accepted into the police academy, James decides to test his mettle by inviting him along on a shift deliberately designed to scare the trainee. However, events take an unexpected turn when their wild night leads to Atlanta’s most-notorious criminal and Ben’s rapid-fire mouth proves as dangerous as the bullets whizzing by them.
Waynes World 2 – Who is Wayne? What is his world? Well those questions were all answered in the first one.
After Wayne Campbell (Mike Myers) has a dream in which Jim Morrison tells him to put on a rock concert, he and fellow late-night TV star Garth Algar (Dana Carvey) try their hand at promoting. Several musical acts show little interest, leaving the pair uncertain about their ability to put on a successful show. Meanwhile, Cassandra (Tia Carrere), Wayne’s rockstar girlfriend, has a new manager (Christopher Walken) who is trying to steal her away, and Wayne’s antics only make things worse.
Honorable mentions this week go out to Biblical epic ‘Noah’, Comedy Bang Bang, The Aristocats (a rinky tinky tinky) and Disney’s Enchanted. Next up, the pick of the week
Pick of the Week – Garfunkel and Oates – This one’s a comedy show created off the back of the duo’s highly successful improv shows. It gets a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes so it’s worth checking it out. That’s a hard score to argue with.
Garfunkel and Oates stars Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci as both themselves and their musical comedy alter-egos, “Garfunkel and Oates,” following the pair as they try to expand the reaches of their meager celebrity. Well-known on the improv-comedy scene, Micucci and Lindhome met at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in LA, naming their band for “two famous rock-and-roll second bananas,” Art Garfunkel and John Oates. In five bite-sized episodes, Riki and Kate skewer taboos and perform tongue-in-cheek songs about their woeful lives as single, late-20-something Los Angelinos.
A promo for this was hard to find but this music video gives you a taste of what they’re all about. Also, who doesn’t dream about doing the business with ducks, amiright?
