The Superbowl was in full force on Sunday/Monday (laces out) and while we only got Chris Martin bouncing around the stage like a personification of skittles’ worst nightmare, we didn’t get the world famous Superbowl movie TV spots. Lucky for us we do have the internet and you can take a gander at the Octogeek’s pick of said  TV spots right here.  We’ll start with those 4 green dudes in what actually looks like a fun film.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2

This time the turtles are facing what looks like the Technodrome, Rocksteady, Beebop and a certain pink brainy thing with a big eye. They still have noses though. They still have noses.

Independence Day: Resurgence

Those wacky aliens from the first film are back and they’re blowin’ stuff up again with massive spaceships. No Will Smith this time as he’s protesting the Oscars or something. It does have Jeff Goldblum in it though and that’s all you really need. It’s a nice touch setting the beginning of the trailer at an American football game too.

Captain America Civil War

It’s war! Civil War. Will there be casualties? Yes. Will we all be well mannered and courteous about it? I hope so. After all, the best way to conduct this high powered slug fest isn’t to have an all out offensive, blasting and dismembering the opposing side while hundreds are caught in the cross fire. It’s by lining up in two teams like you’re about to be picked for football at school and electing one man from each to fight for the who teams honor. Like I said. Lets be civil about this.

X-Men Age Of Apocalypse

Are you ready for the end of days? Do you have your dress shoes on and a clip on tie? Do you even own a pair of dress shoes? Well, it doesn’t matter. Dress shoes or no, its all goin’ down when Apocalypse and his 4 horsemen come a knockin’.

Jason Bourne

As well as having a super bowl spot we also have something more to go with it. Matt Damon has been giving everyone a run down on the new film which is now called ‘Jason Bourne’.

“This is the completion of this journey that started in The Bourne Identity. It’s part of the first three, it’s not a whole new chapter. It feels like the conclusion, even though we’re not saying it’s the conclusion, it feels like the conclusion of my identity journey. It goes deeper than Ultimatum, basically”.

“You have to do something great and new, and [Alicia Vikander] is our great and new. She plays a new character we’re introducing, and she’s a specialist in cyber. Instead of just the three arenas of warfare – air, land and sea – there’s now this fourth element: cyber. […] We also have Tommy Lee Jones in the movie, and he’s kind of representing the analog CIA in the way the old guard thinks. Those two go head to head quite a bit. Introducing those two new characters, I think, is probably one of the biggest trailblazing things we’ve done in this movie”.

Alicia Vikander played Ava in Ex Machina in case you were wondering and Jason Bourne comes out in July in case you were wondering about that too. Lets hope his friends and family accepting of his new lifestyle.

X-Force

Ryan Reynolds has been talking about the future of Deadpool in the land of movies and depending on whether Deadpool is a hit or not (I can’t see it being a flop mind you) it looks like there’s some interest in an X-Force movie.

“There’s so much material to mine in just the X-Men universe … In the future, if we’re doing a bunch more Deadpool movies, we’re really going to explore the X-Men a lot. We’ll see. And maybe X-Force — X-Force is my priority. I really want to get that in.”

Deadpool is out this weekend just in time for Valentines Day.

Assassin’s Creed

assassins_creed_0Empire have gotten to the sausage that is Michael Fassbender to grill him on the upcoming Assassin’s Creed more (due out December).

“I’ve always thought about The Matrix when we’ve approached this. This idea of DNA memory elevates it from a basic fantasy genre [piece], because you have something an audience can actually believe in. Then the journey becomes so much more elevated, because you’re on board in a different way”.

The Assassin’s Creed games are based on the idea that it’s possible to explore the memories of ancestors from the past. That’s how each game can be set in a different time period and still be Assassin’s Creed. As well as connecting it to The Matrix in approach he also mentioned that real stunt work would play a substantial role.

“There’s very little green screen in this, which is highly unusual in these films. “We have stunt guys jumping across buildings in Valletta . We’ve got [stunt man] Damian Walters doing a 120-foot leap of faith, without any rope, into a bag, so it’s pretty incredible to see”.

I can’t wait to see Damian the stunt man in a bag this December. Fassbender is not really a sausage by the way although he is part German.
