We’ve got a full chest of golden treats for you this week! Before we start though, perhaps you’re curious about whether Deadpool (released last Friday) was worth all that hype. If so you can check out our review here. If not maybe we should just begin with Ghostbusters. Would you like that? Huh? Ok then.
Ghostbusters
Dubbed by some ‘Lady Ghostbusters’ and by others ‘Ghostbusters’ this one has divided many people who haven’t seen it yet nor have they seen a trailer yet. That trailer looks to be coming very soon but until then here’s a picture that’s just been released of the Ecto 2.
Doom
If you don’t remember Doom then you’re obviously just a young whipper snapper who don’t know nuthin’ about gaming in the good ol’ days. Doom is set in or around hell or in space or Mars or something and you play as some guy with a gun maybe he’s a space marine maybe a convict. Look, I can’t remember, I was 6 when it came out so you’ll forgive me the details. All you need to know is that it was a FPS in which you shot a bunch of demons in the face until blood went everywhere. Good news is that there’s another one coming our way. There have been sequels before but this time they are going with the snappy title of ‘Doom’. I like it. According to it’s developers it will contain “bad ass demons, big effing guns, and moving really fast” as it’s defining traits. If you have a spare 18 minutes, then here’s a bunch of footage of the campaign and the multiplayer. Unlike some shooters, Doom will have 13+ hours of game play in the story mode. Unlike say Star Wars Battlefront which has none. I’m not mad, just sayin’.
Game of Thrones
Can you feel it? Winter is coming. I mean it’s been coming for a while now but this time it’s really coming. It’s got a limp but it’s still moving pretty fast. It’ll be here pretty soon, best ring Dominoes and order an extra pizza ’cause it’ll probably be here when you start dinner. HBO know this and have released a boat load of pictures for season 6. Too many for the Octogeek to handle so here’s just a few of them. No one looks happy do they? Maybe they forgot to order that extra pizza. If you want all the pics pastie bap has you covered elsewhere on the site. Click here to see them.
Batman v Superman
The marketing campaign is still going for this one. It seems like it’s been coming for years. This week we have a couple of Quad posters to contend with. I had to google what the hell a quad poster was. It’s not one of Bats and Supes jousting each other on a pair of 4 wheel all-terrain vehicles as I had hoped. It’s a UK size of poster 30 by 40 inches, landscape. Here they are then. Not a quad bike to be seen.
Speaking more about playing Batman, Ben Affleck mentions that he isnt playing him in his prime.
“He’s a little over the hill–broken. He’s kind of given up. And when Superman shows up he’s like so powerful that he threatens everything that Batman kind of believes in, and it leads to this conflict. […] The hardest part of this movie and movies like this is the amount of training you have go into”. After seeing Henry Cavill as Superman “it was kind of intimidating. I was like, oh, do I have to look like that? That’s going to be a lot of work!”.
It’s worth it Ben, you can work it, put your thing down flip it and reverse it. We were also given another trailer for the movie. I feel like I’ve already seen the movie through all the trailers so I’m skipping this one myself. They promise it’s the final one though so here it is for anyone that wants to take the plunge.
Lego Star Wars
The Lego games have been pretty popular lately. They give an amusing twist to all kinds of movie properties. And with the success of the Lego Movie it’s no surprise then that they’re going to try their hand in television. Lego Star Wars is coming to Disney XD. Lego have made a few Avengers shorts and a few other things and the humor is always spot on so i reckon this could be a winner. Also it’s Star Wars plus Lego. Win win.
The Huntsman: Winter’s War
If you thought you’d avoid this one even though they removed Kristen Stewart this time then you’re in luck. Universal have released a trailer for the film containing what looks like the whole story condensed into 2 minutes 25 seconds. Result.
Alien: Covenant
Here’s a bit of news I didn’t see coming. Danny McBride (yes that Danny McBride) has been added to the cast of Alien: Covenant. I’m not sure what to say about this. I do like Danny McBride though. It’ll be interesting to see if he has a space mullet. A while ago Ridley Scott gave an interview about the film’s monsters and said:
“There was always this discussion: Is Alien, the character, the beast, played out or not? We’ll have them all: egg, face-hugger, chest-burster, then the big boy.”
I think we know now that by ‘big boy’ he means McBride.
The Invisible Man
Universal are adding The Invisible Man to their new roster of classic monsters. I don’t think many will see it though. Get it? See it? He’s INVISIBLE! Johnny Depp has been cast as the latest mad scientist who’s trying to make himself disappear. *Insert some sort of Mordecai/Lone Ranger joke here*.
