Today we’ve got Black Panther, Holmes and Watson and Justice League. Superman is showing us what his new suit is like and Star Wars Rogue One has yet another trailer. We also have some more info on Detective Pikachu.
Black Panther
Chadwick Boseman will be Panthering up in the year 2018 as the Black Panther and it’s about time someone gave us a little more information on the movie. Co-writer Joe Robert Cole was talking to Slashfilm about all the feline fun and games.
First, I think Chadwick did a phenomenal job in Civil War in setting the tone for him being a king, for the nobility. At the end, I thought his turn was fantastic and how he rose above his own vengeance. I think that was a great introduction to him. Our standalone movie will begin shortly after Civil War ends. So we’ll be able to see him mourning and him starting to take command as king of his own nation. Lots of things are going to occur within regards to that.
As far as T’Challa’s Kingdom of Wakanda, he had this to say:
There are so many countries, each of them with different histories, mythologies, and cultures but what we tried to do was hone in on some of the history, some of the cultural influences and then extrapolate out in our technology, extrapolate out in how we see Wakanda and the different parts of the country and the culture of the country as well. So we wanted to root it in reality first and then build out from there, so we’d feel pretty authentic and grounded.
Detective Pikachu
It’s not the Pokemon movie we want but perhaps it’s the one we deserve. As much as I’d prefer a Pokemon movie based on the classic Game Boy game and the extended commercial that is the cartoon, Detective Pikachu seems to be heading in the right direction. Nicole Pearlman (Guardians Of The Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls) are in charge of writing duties so if that’s the tone it might just be something special. Meanwhile here’s the trailer for the upcoming game that it’s inspired by.
Justice League
Henry Cavill has an Instagram. He probs uses it to send pictures of his handsome face, all over the world. It appears though that he also uses it to tease his Justice League Superman costume
Star Wars: Rogue One
Here’s the International Trailer with a few new bits and bobs in it.
Holmes and Watson
Another take on Sherlock Homes? Surely we’ve had our fill. No one could possibly dare to challenge Robert Downey for the mantle of period style Holmes or Benedict Cumberbatch for the contemporary. Pikachu is throwing his deerstalker in for the Pokemon version. Who else would dare? Will Farrell that’s who, and who would make a perfect Watson? Stepbrothers partner, John C. Reilly. This one has a lot of potential and it’s scheduled to start filming at the end of the year with Etan Cohen at the helm. He had screenplay duties on Tropic Thunder and Director duties on Get Hard.
