Trailers for the new Pirates of the Caribbean film as well as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. News on what Disney is up to, Jurassic World 2 and Planet of the Apes too.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

We’ve the final trailer for new Harry Potter spin off. Fantastic Beasts is out this November for all you Harry Pot Heads and Eddie Red Mayniacs.

The Lion King

the-lion-king-imageJohn Faverau did good with The Jungle Book for Disney. Jungle Book turned out to be pretty cool in the real world. He’s now been given the mammoth task of directing a live action Lion King Movie. Let’s hope it doesn’t get an icy reception when it’s released. Sorry about all the Ice Age puns but I couldn’t be bothered thinking of Lion ones.

Mulan

Disney’s Mulan has been confirmed for the live action treatment too. We’re promised a “more nuanced and elaborate” take on the source story. We’ve no word on a director yet but let’s hope they take pride in their work because Disney will be expecting the lion’s share at the box office. I should have used those for my bit on The Lion King but hey, it’s done now. No turning back. Mulan will be roaring into theatres on November 2nd 2018.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Javier Bardem is playing the villain in the latest Pirates movie. This trailer shows us his spooky costume, bad oral hygiene and yet another crew of monstrous pirates. Where do you go when you’ve done skeletons, fish monsters and um.. the Chinese? Undead ash monsters of course!  PotC:DMTNT is due out May 2017.

War For The Planet Of The Apes

harambeWftPotA is due next July and we’ve finally got the synopsis.

In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins this own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.

Jurassic World 2

J A Bayona is directing Jurassic World 2 but previous director Colin Trevorrow has been co writing the screenplay with Derek Connolly and has spoken a bit about what we can expect.

jurassic-world-movie-trailer-previews“It will be more suspenseful and scary”, Trevorrow said. “It’s just the way it’s designed; it’s the way the story plays out. I knew I wanted Bayona to direct it long before anyone ever heard that was a possibility, so the whole thing was just built around his skillset”.

There will be animatronics for sure. We’ll follow the same general rule as all of the films in the franchise which is the animatronic dinosaurs are best used when standing still or moving at the hips or the neck. They can’t run or perform complex physical actions, and anything beyond that you go to animation. The same rules applied in Jurassic Park”.

This time the budget is up over $100m from Jurassic World’s $150m. The working budget is now $260m. That T-Rex will be getting it’s own dressing room I suppose.
