This weeks ‘Gig of the Week’ isn’t exactly particular to this week. In fact it happens every week, but it’s a damn good event and one that I don’t think many people know about. Between 3pm and 5pm on a Saturday afternoon down in the basement of McHughs bar there is a Jazz session. I’ve been a few times and will be returning next Saturday. It’s free in and there can be between 3 and 6 musicians playing and singing – sometimes old standards, sometimes a bit of improv, but it’s all great live music no matter what you hear. McHughs itself is the oldest surviving building in Belfast and serves a decent pint of Guinness so it’s great for taking visitors to to give them a bit of traditional atmosphere. Anyway I know everyone will be going mad in the sun this weekend, but if you need to cool off for a couple of hours there’s few better ways to do it, and even less FREE ways to do it!
