With Halloween soon upon us and Dracula Untold out in the cinemas it might interest you to know that the whole thing was filmed right here in NI in some pretty spooky (and some not so spooky) locations. So if you feel like checking out all the places it was filmed after seeing the film here’s a handy wee map put together by the NITB of all the locations.
Released on 3 October 2014, the film is based on Bram Stoker’s classic novel and tells the origin of Dracula and vampire mythology combined with the true history of Prince Vlad. It stars Luke Evans in the main role alongside Dominic Cooper, Sarah Gadon and HBO’s Game of Thrones® resident bad guy Charles Dance.
Familiar backdrops include the wide open spaces of Divis Mountain near Belfast which hosted battle scenes, the Italian Garden at Mount Stewart in County Down which acted as the grounds of Dracula’s castle and the world-famous stones of the Giant’s Causeway in County Antrim which doubles as a fictional Transylvanian Mountain – with a little CGI help.
