Mallrats 2

Would you like a chocolate covered pretzel?

18 year old me loves everything Kevin Smith and especially Mallrats. Brodie Bruce is the role that Jason Lee was born to play. Keven Smith revisited his first movie ‘Clerks’ with the cleverly named ‘Clerks 2’ this time Mallrats is getting the sequel treatment. It’s fair to say that critics didn’t love it as much as Clerks but its always been my favorite of the two. Smith was slated to film ‘Clerks 3’ next but it turns out that if he did that then the Mall they had planned to use for Mallbrats (Mallrats 2 is called Mallbrats by the way, did I mention that? I think I prefer Mallrats 2) is gonna be demolished soon. So Mallbrats is next on the agenda and it seems like most of the cast are confirmed. Jason Mewes, Michael Rooker, Shannen Doherty, Jason Lee, Ethan Suplee, Jeremy London and Stan Lee are all returning. I bet it was real hard getting Jason London to commit. He’s a busy dude. On Ben Affleck’s  Shannon Hamilton returning Smith has said  “No word on Batfleck yet… but it would be fun to see if we could get him.”

Legends of Tomorrow

hawkman-hawkgirl-tv-headerFans of Arrow and The Flash will be looking forward to ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ which is a sort of DC TV team-up series. A new picture have been released of Hawkman and Hawkgirl who will be joining the Legends. Hawkman is played by Falk Hentschel and Hawkgirl will played by Ciara Renée, both will pop by The Flash season 2 first. Producer Phil Klemmer talked a little on their relationship:

“[T]he way we’ve imagined them is that they’ve obviously been reincarnated through the ages together, but the fact that he remembers their previous lives and she doesn’t… it gives them very much like a Bogie & Bacall sort of [relationship].”

I’ve no idea who Bogie or Bacall are so that doesn’t really clear things up for me. From what I can gather from the internet,  Hawkman is an Egyptian prince that can fly and gets reincarnated after death but remembers his past lives. Also he’s something to do with a planet called Thanagar and often has a Hawkgirl/woman with him. Upon googling Bogie and Bacall I now gather that they are Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. Like most comic book characters, none of this makes any sense. I’m sure it’ll be fun seeing him flying about though.

The Jungle Book

Disney have released a little trailer for their star studded (Ben Kingsley, Bill Murray, Scarlet Johanson, Idris Elba, Chistopher Walken) Jungle Book. It looks all well and good, Mowgli even has his wee red pants, but I wonder how they’re gonna fit all the songs in without it being weird. Maybe they’ll have Baloo do a rap version of the Bare Necessities.

Doctor Strange

It was rumoured before but now Rachel McAdams is on board for Doc Strange. The cast so far includes Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange as well as Chiwetel Ejiofor (Baron Mordo), Mads Mikkelsen  (A Nefarious Villain) and Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One).

AHS : Hotel

The new series of American Horror Story starts 20th October on Fox and this time it’ll set it’s creepy goings on in a, you guessed it, Hotel. What gave it away? The heading? This time Lady Gaga is the manager of the establishment. So that should be fun. You’re expecting some sort of comment about Lady Gaga being too scary for AHS aren’t you? Maybe something snarky about her acting abilities. Well I’m not going to bite. I’m sure she’s a lovely lady. I looked up her filmography online and she’s been in Muppets Most Wanted so you know, she can’t be that bad.
