This week we’ve got stuff on the Lego Batman Movie which looks just swell. We got The Rock, Bridget Jones, The Tick, Suicide Squad, Pirates, Game of Thrones and Turtles. Quite the mix I think you’ll agee. Lets begin with some
Lego Batman flavoured lulz will we?

The Lego Batman Movie

Batman was a hit in the rather successful Lego Movie so it’s a rather nifty idea to give him his own movie. Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, Zach Galifianakis, Ralph Fiennes, and Mariah Carey are all on board and there 2 teasers are pretty reassuring that they’ve struck gold again.

While we’re on the subject. Lego have something else to add to their never ending lines of popular characters from DC, Marvel, Simpsons, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Harry Potter. It’s a big one that was pretty much inevitable. Disney. That’s right Lego now have their choice of what must be hundreds of characters from throughout Disney’s archives to sell to the Lego hungry public. Here’s the first wave of minifigs below.

TMNT 2 Out of the Shadows

I liked the first one in spite of myself. This one looks like they’re really taking the cartoon vibe and running with it. No Batman v Superman broodiness here. Rocksteady, Beebop and Krang are all accounted for. Here’s a new teaser for TMNT 2 which shows a few more bits and pieces missing from the first trailer.

Game of Thrones

It’s less than a month until the madness and death of Game of Thrones begins again. Here’s another promo that teases a lot but gives away nothing. Nice work guys.

Bridget Jones’s Baby

OMG! OMG! She’s back! The every woman that won our hearts with her big pants and clumsy fumblings is returning to make it a trilogy. Only this time she’s having a BABY! Also she’s all slim and slinky, how will she find a man now? Harrumph.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

superbowl-shark-costume3-640x532I’m not sure how to say this but Paul ‘Hey kids i’m still cool’ McCartney has snagged a part in the 5th or 6th or 7th? pirates movie. I’ve lost track of how many there are but he’s um ‘on board’ as it were. Deadline reports that there will be a ‘big set piece’ centered around a character played by Paul McCartney. I’m hoping that he’s dressed as that shark form Katy Perry’s Superbowl show and Johnny Depp does a kickflip over his head using a rowboat on cart wheels, finally jumping the shark.  Dead Men Tell No Tales stars Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush and brings Orlando Bloom back into the fold. New additions are Kaya Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites and Javier Bardem playing the nefarious Captain Salazar. It’s nice to see Javier playing against type here.

Special Correspondents

Here’s one from Ricky Gervais that’s being added to the Netflix slate.

A new Netflix original feature film was written and directed by Ricky Gervais and stars Eric Bana (Deliver Us From Evil, Lone Survivor) and Gervais (Muppets Most Wanted, Derek). The film is about a struggling New York based radio journalist whose arrogance and decadent lifestyle has hindered his career. With his job on the line, he fakes front line war reports from the comfort of his hideout above a Spanish restaurant in Queens.

The film also stars Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel, Up in the Air), Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire, Brave), Kevin Pollak (The Usual Suspects, Casino), America Ferrera (Ugly Betty, How to Train Your Dragon), Raúl Castillo (Looking, Cold Weather), and Benjamin Bratt (Modern Family, 24: Live Another Day)

This actually looks like a Ricky Gervais film that might be good. Not like the Invention of Lying.

Suicide Squad

New international trailer for Suicide Squad has dropped. I’d prefer to see a trailer for Suicide Squid myself but then again that applies to any film.

The Tick

squareFor those that remember reading the comic or watching the cartoon or watching the TV show which starred Patrick Warburton (Joe Swanson) as a live action Tick, it may come as welcome news that Amazon is making a live action reboot. Peter Serafinowicz (the voice of Darth Maul) who was last seen calling the Guardians of the Galaxy ‘A-Holes’ has landed the starring roll and a pilot is currently in the works.
