This week’s top 3 contains an interesting Neill Blomkamp project, a sequel of sorts to Starship Troopers and something to watch while you wait for the new Avengers film. We’ve also got some bonus nonsense and some movie dogs! Yay!
Oats Studios
Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) has an interesting little project on the go. He’s started a new production company called Oats Studios with the purpose of making 20 minute short films of an experimental nature. He’s directed 3 20 minute short films for Oats Studios Experimental Short Films: Volume 1 which will be released for free on youtube. It looks like he’s eyeing up a second volume too. Check out the trailer below as it looks kinda awesome in a terrifying ‘this is bananas’ sort of way. Also I could look at that skull thing forever and not get bored.
Avengers: Infinity War
Not much can be said yet about Infinity war as it’s all hush hush. Chris Hemsworth to the rescue as usual to give us a wee video of him having a couple of larks on set. If I looked at Instagram more than once a month I might follow him.
Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars
Did you like Starship Troopers? I liked Starship Troopers. Very Much so. There’s an animated sequel on it’s way with Casper Van Dien and Dina Meyer returning to voice Johnny and Dizzy (I don’t think they were up to much anyway). It’s out for one night only in the US but expect it soon on DVD/Streaming etc.
I just checked and they’ve been doing dog movies. Casper’s starred in something called ‘Army Dog’. and Dina has taken a supporting role in ‘A Dog Walker’ Christmas Tale’. She must be the 6th most important character after those other 2 and the 3 dogs. Woof.

Bonus Nonsense!
The Rock is currently making a movie about that old video game stalwart, Rampage. In rampage you play as a monster rampaging through the city, smashing things up for points. Here’s The Rock with his albino gorilla pal George.

I’d also like to mention that Suicide Squad 2 starts shooting in 2018 with Joel Kinnaman back to direct and that Terry Gilliam has finally finished filming ‘Quixote’ .
