This week we have the final Star Wars trailer and the final Star Wars trailer and the final Star Wars trailer. That’s all anyone cares about right? If not we have Thor 2, Die Hard 6 and two X-Men TV shows to deal with. First up though Star Wars.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Here it is! It’s got more Chewie and Han and a bunch of other stuff too.

Thor: Ragnarok

ThorHelmetBefore we get into all the madness that is the Infinity War, we’ll be dealing with the Asgardian end of days in Thor: Ragnarok. While its confirmed that Iron Man has a significant part to play in Captain America: Civil War next year it seems that Thor will be getting a pal to play with too. Mark Ruffalo is in final negotiations to reprise his role as Bruce Banner/ Hulk in Thor 3: No more dark elves please. It makes sense that since Marvel can’t give him his own film without having to deal with Universal who have the distribution rights to standalone Hulk movies, they can instead give him a decent part in Thor 3: This time I might wear my awesome helmet again. Both Loki and Sif are confirmed to return too.

Die Hard 6

diehardLive Free or Die Hard was so awesome that we’re getting another Die Hard by the same director! Len Wiseman is back to bring us another helping and this time it’s a prequel! It’s all taking place in 1970’s NYC and will be bookended by present day scenes with Bruce Willis. How awesome does that sound? Hello? Is anyone still there?

X-Men: Hellfire and Legion

xmen40A weird one this but none the less good news I think. Marvel and Fox are working together on 2 new shows.

Hellfire will centre on the Hellfire Club that we saw in X-Men First Class and will likely be set around the 60’s and 70’s. The second will focus on David Haller AKA Legion.

“Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real. He’s based on the Marvel comics character Legion, the son of X-Men founder Charles Xavier (played by Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy in the films), first introduced in 1985.”

Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kingberg will be executive producers but Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory also have a hand in it. It’s reckoned that these shows will be part of Fox’s X-Men Universe rather than Marvel’s which makes a lot of sense. There were rumours floating about that Fox was giving Marvel the rights to Fantastic Four (which includes Dr. Doom and Galactus) in some sort of deal for the rights to make X-Men TV shows (Marvel holds the rights for X-Men on the small screen). This however has turned out to be false. Both studios likely just see some cash to be made by making mutant TV shows and it makes sense from Marvel’s point of view to get Fox involved.

 Netflix

I have  2 picks this week, one I’ve seen and the other I have not. First, Beasts of No Nation with Idris Elba is a Netflix original film about civil war in West Africa. The synopsis is as follows When civil war tears his family apart, a young West African boy is forced to join a unit of mercenary fighters and transform into a child soldier. Sounds standard enough but it’s meant to be something pretty good. My second choice is the sublime (I said sublime didn’t I?) Super. If Kick Ass is what it’d really be like to be a superhero then Super is what it’d really, really be like to be a superhero. Basically Rainn Wilson is pretty messed up in the head. If you haven’t seen it, SEE IT NOW!
