A new adaptation by UK Theatre Award–winning Tinderbox Theatre Company, Associate Theatre Company of The MAC.
Four women are detained following a protest in Belfast. Under interrogation, they respond not with answers, but with passages from Animal Farm, sparking a fierce debate around free speech, propaganda, and censorship.
As the pressure mounts, the interrogation room fractures into a visceral, imaginative world, as Orwell’s text spills into the space and the protesters bring the book to life
A modern take on the Orwellian classic that retains the punch and impact of the original text while presenting it in a fashion that feels current and local. The all-female cast does a tremendous job of bringing the animals to life whilst presenting the characters and, at times, humour that made the book timeless. A succinct production that crams a lot into the under-2-hour run time.
Tinderbox‘s production of Animal Farm is on at The MAC, Belfast, until 28th February. For more information and tickets, see here.
