Suni and Mae are dreamers. As young girls they dreamt about journeying far beyond our solar system, singing among the stars and discovering all that was unknown to them: The Secrets of Space.

Award-winning children’s theatre company Cahoot’s NI present this out of this world new show packed full of magic and illusion. Join our space sisters on an interactive journey across the galaxy, exploring with dazzling imagery the wonders of the cosmos, whilst finding out the scientific secrets and technological truths of the universe.

On Friday night I took my own Buzz Lightyear (my 5 yo son Max) and we boarded the good rocket-ship The MAC on a journey to explore the ‘Secrets Of Space’. A dark stage with 3 video walls or varying sizes awaited us. Over the next hour, we went from the creation of the universe to exploring how time travel is possible. The O’Hara sisters taking us all through their story of fascination, from they were young, with space. The performance mixed technology, lighting, sound effects, magic tricks, props, singing and some imagination to create something that’s quite unlike anything I’ve seen before. Looking down at Buzz halfway through he sat open-mouthed and as quite as I’ve seen him in a while, taking it all in.  The show cleverly incorporates a lot of learning particularly in STEM (Science, technology, Engineering & Maths) which is THE hot subject at the minute (CBeebies is awash with STEM programming), I think it taught me more than my entire GCSE years doing double award science! I really did feel in wonder at parts in how everything works and also in how easy to understand they had made everything whilst still retaining the entertainment factor. It’s always nice to leave a show feeling a little smarter than when you went in!

‘Secrets Of Space’ is on at The MAC until the 13th October and tickets and all the details can be found here.
